Default Which movie will take the top spot this weekend?

Three pretty good looking movies out in the same weekend, which one do you think will earn the most at the box office?

Ha, looks like my guess was right. I love being right, especially since it doesn't happen often.

I Love You, Man sucked, Knowing is certainly not Dark City, who really cares about Duplicity?

Actually the reviews on this are really good from a lot of the major critics so this one may hang on and not see a major drop next week, especially as Monsters and Aliens is the only big release next week. Adults will still want something different to go see.

I say 'I Love you man' takes this weekend. I went to see 'The Knowing' last night and there were like 10 others watching this movie.

Knowing has already won the weekend. I Love you, Man will pass it on the overall eventually. Sci-Fi pics just don't seem to do as well these days unfortunately. More so that this pic wasn't marketed as one really. People get pissed off when they go to the movies expecting one thing and get another. This usually leads to bad word of mouth and a huge drop off in week two. (Hulk 2003, Watchmen, etc).

I'm talking about Joe six pack, not the kind that know movies like members here.

Saturday morning estimates for the weekend:

1. Knowing (Summit) OPENER [3,332 Theaters] Fri $8.8M, Wkd est $25M
2. I Love You, Man (DW/Paramount) OPENER [2,711] Fri $6.2M, Wkd est $18.5M
3. Duplicity (Universal) OPENER [2,575] Fri $4.6M, Wkd est $14.3M
4. Witch Mountain (Disney) Week 1 [3,187] Fri $3.7M (-45%), Wkd est $14M
5. Watchmen (Warner Bros) Week 3 [3,510] Fri $2M, Wkd est $7M
6. Last House (Rogue/Uni) Week 2 [2,403] Fri $1.9M, Wkd est $6.1M
7. Taken (Fox) Week 8 [2,661] Fri $1.3M, Wkd est $4.3M

TO note: Taken has really hung in there over the weeks.

reviews may be good (and i actually fail to see many of them by "major" critics except for ebert), just as they were for hulk. what i'm talking about is word is mouth, which can absolutely destroy movies. superman returns is another huge example.
