Do any of you own them? Are they worthwhile as upconverters for the price, say, compared to Oppos amazing lineup of converters?
What about this 24p feature they do for DVDs? Any input gladly appreciated! And no, this is not a Toshiba bash thread, DVD bash thread, anything bash thread, or I will have to bash your head in. |

here's a review from dvdtown:
http://www.dvdtown.com/news/review-t...vd-player/5908 they seemed to like it as an upconverting player, but it still didn't warrant a high recommendation ![]() i assume you were looking into getting one? Last edited by Sussudio; 02-15-2009 at 08:35 PM. |

I mean, I have Philips Upconverter, but I mainly use that to play my DivX movies and TV shows on, since the PS3 wont play all of them - it does a decent job upconverting.
The DMP-BD35 has an annoying layer-break skip during DVD playback, so I just wanted to see if it was worth a decent upgrade over the PS3. But since I can't return it, I wanted to see if it was justifiable, since the Oppo 983 is in the $200-$300 range!! |

![]() I was deciding on a sony dvd(regular) player for $43 ORthe TOSH upconvert then finally decided on LG for $88 or so. 90% sure the tosh(HD-DVD)iba one was in the $60 price range but I could be wrong. TOSH was my 2nd choice, just might have been at my store only. Last edited by pBLU-RAYs3; 02-15-2009 at 09:37 PM. Reason: add |

If I were going to buy a standard DVD player right now, I think I'd go for the Oppo 980H. At ~$170, it's a very good upconverter, but beyond that, it's an audiophile-grade CD, SACD and DVD-Audio player worth more than it's price tag on that alone. See this review for details on it's audio capabilities.
