How's The Doors sound on vinyl? - Blu-ray Forum

Im a HUGE Doors fan... and am wanting to get them on vinyl and have seen the 7 LP's reissue boxset they have out right now...

Wondering if anyone here has it? If so is it worth the $$$$$?

Check out the reviews from buyers at AcousticSounds...seems to be a mixed bag. At $200USD, I think I'l refrain myself to be honest.

Hmmm... being a Doors fan its tempting... and youre right $200 US is pricey right now... thats like $500! CDN with the way our dollar is right now

Maybe Ill peak around on ebay and see if I can get a better cheaper...

I have heard bad things about the quality of the vinyl pressing for the recent boxset. Have you checked out all the Bright Midnight releases yet?

If you're set on it...check with amazon.co.uk...their vinyl selection is quite comprehensive and the exchange rate is much more paletable. Check this site weekly as their pricing moves up and down a lot of times. Their shipping is usually much cheaper as well and I can tell you from personal expereince, you won't get dinged for duties/taxes over and above.

Their packaging is just like they use here (cardboard). Once they confirm your product has shipped you can expect it within a week usually, but it can take a bit longer. Since anything I've ordered I've not been in a rush for, the delivery timing is less of an issue for me.

I was not very impressed with the DVD-A set, all discs including 5.1 DVD-A 24/96 mixes, but I've never heard the new vinyl pressings.

with Mr. Morrison gone, apparently the other band members decided it was their time to be in the spot light and remixed some of the songs and made the vocals a lot less prevalent...

a complete mistake and it ruined this set....the original GH is still the best...

That's change for sure.....may have to curtail my enjoyment time on the forum for a bit!

It's under control...just a question of timing! LOL! But I gotta ya Rich, it's really tempting to order ...I sometimes wish we couldn't buy online! Just sometimes however.

I have the set and i think it sounds pretty good. However I have never heard the original pressings, so I am only comparing against cd's. I am a huge Doors fan, if you can find a deal its worth it.

I have original pressings of the first LP, Waiting For the Sun, and the Soft Parade. I'm really tempted to go for the box, because my favorite Doors albums are the ones I don't have - Strange Days & LA Woman.
