So, it's Pixar's puberty movie.

First time one of these Pixar movies grabbed me with one of its trailers since Incredibles 2.

Why is there co-billing, with Disney ahead of Pixar? Is this a move by Disney to edge the Pixar name out of existence? I have found that Pixar movies have maintained a rather consistently high level even since Disney purchased that outfit, whereas Disney animated features have continued to be hit and miss. So, should I see this one? If it was Pixar I would see it for sure, but if Disney....I wouldn't go out of my way to see it because it would most likely be preachy about "diversity" or other clumsy political elements or statements.

If the trailer didn't say Pixar, I never would have guessed it.

Err...Backstreet Boys?

Has Pixar ever used a pop song in their trailers? More of a Dreamworks thing - or any other studio. And even then they don't use songs popular like 25 years ago.

Um, they've been owned by Disney for like 15 years. I'm sure it's been there since?

Pixar's first film Toy Story used "The Boys are Back in Town" in it's trailers and Inside Out's trailer used "More Than A Feeling"

Isn’t this dealing more with anxiety and mood swings than proper puberty?

Regardless, I’m not really crazy about what they’re showing, looks pretty weak for an animated film in general, not even factoring in Pixar.

1) Backstreet Boys song really doesn’t work here
2) Her mom sounds like a Karen lol
3) Clifford the Big Red Dog will beat this film to the punch

Also, just noticed this takes place in Canada (Toronto area?). This the first Disney/Pixar animation to ever take place there?

I have read reports that Pixar wants this movie to release in the theaters, but knowing Disney, they will find a way to release the movie on Disney Plus on the same day.

So the girl’s mother appears to be Asian but she’s not - so is she supposed to be adopted? And if she IS supposed to be Asian, it’s yet another movie with the disturbing trend of turning characters of color into animals (Soul, Princess and the Frog).

That's what I got from it too. I've seen that hairbrush relaxation thing before, just can't remember where. I'd definitely be more interested in a take on anxiety/mental illness than puberty, personally. From the teaser poster a while ago, I figured it would be an invisible friend kinda thing, so I'm glad there seems to be more to it.

The teaser definitely comes across more Dreamworks than Pixar, I think, but there have been some pretty underwhelming teaser trailers for their movies before, and the movies turned out great.
