I'm having a problem with the Happy Feet DVD. The menu is fine, but the actual movie is showing up twice, one on top of the other, stretched out horizontally filling the screen. I've watched Talladega Nights, Gone in 60 Seconds, and Employee of the month without any problems.
I have a Sony BWU-100A drive in my PC, and I'm using the Cyberlink PowerDVD 6.6 BD Edition that came with the drive. I have a NVIDIA Geforce 8600 graphics card, which is HDCP compliant, and I'm running Windows Vista Enterprise on my PC. Like I said, the few other BD Movies I've tried have worked just fine, but Happy feet is doing this weird double vision thing. I've restarted the computer, and tried everything I could think of, but it's still doing it. Anyone else having this kind of problem, and is it a Hardware/software problem or is it an issue with the movie itself? |

Hi, new poster to these forums, but I have been reading them quite frequently. Very informative, and I thank you all. It's quite civil here. Anyhow, to the topic at hand...
While I do not own Happy Feet, when I went to see Superman Returns in IMAX 3D when it came out, I remember seeing that "Happy Feet" was included in the 3D trailers. Could the double vision problems stem from a transfer from the 3D footage in the film? A lot of 3D films work this way, by having slightly offsetting images in different colour spectrums, that require 3D glasses to focus the double image into one cohesive 3D image. |

It sounds more like a defective disc than anything else. If it were an issue with your Blu-ray drive or PC, the other Blu-ray discs would have a similar problem and then more than likely the problem would lie there. Check to see if you have the most recent driver updates. I have not heard of any compatibility issues with the title, however Blu-ray drives in PC's are still kind of in the early stages and thus could have little problems such as this one. My copy of Happy Feet plays normally with no problems.

Yea, I assumed it was a problem with the disk as well, maybe some sort of 3D coding thing or perhaps something to do with interlacing, but I borrowed it from a friend who said he's had no such problems with it. I'm starting to think it's the Cyberlink PowerDVD software, which has started giving me other problems since I updated it. I'm currently waiting on a reply from Cyberlink's tech support about a different issue, which if fixed, I think may solve this problem as well. I'll post my results here.
