Its ok, I had the SF2000 for awhile and for the money thought it sounded great. essentially the same thing except the SF model has the stands with the speakers.
If your player decodes Dolby TrueHD and DTS HD-MA internally then yes you will get them with that HTiB |

Thats what I have right now and I'm very happy with it. I have a PS3 and a Motorola HD DVR and so far so good.
However I have to say, it is my first setup so obviously compared to TV speakers,(which is what I had before) its the best thing since Coca Cola! lol Probably the thing I like most about it is convinience. If you have an HD sources like I do, you'll save yourself a lot cable hassle simply beacause you run everything in HDMI. The thing I like least is that it doesn't decode HD audio(DTS HD and the like) so your player better be able to do it if you are looking for that. A system thats supposed to be a matching component to a BD Player should support HD audio. But if your running a BDP-550 you should have no problem. |

Depends, If you wanted to upgrade you should start with a receiver and a sub since the sub that comes with the HTiB you cant use with a receiver. then the rest of the speakers

I had the same set up before I upgraded.I used the PS3 with it because the recevier does not decode lossless audio.I also would use the sony s550 BD player! It was good for the time being until my upgrade. Plus I had a friend who wanted to get started with a blu-ray HT but did not have alot of money to get started so I told him what I had before and he went out and picked up the same thing only with the s550 instead of the PS3 and he is very happy with it!!

Just wanted to clarify. I have a PS3 and my Dish Network HD receiver that I would want to hook up. PS3 can decode all the HD audio, so if that is the case, would I be able to get full HD sound through this setup? I know the Dish receiver doesn't do much for HD audio, but I'm mainly concerned with blu rays. Looking for something on a bit of a budget (Just graduated and started my job and want something for surround sound to go with my new Samsung HDTV).
I know it says Sony Bravia, but was wondering if this would work on a Samsung tv as well? Thanks all. |

I have the SS2300, the Sony BDP-S550, a 40" Sony LCD TV (KDL-40S4100) all connected with HDMI cables and we have a Comcast HD DVR cable box. For our small TV room it's perfect--it looks sharp, BDs play great and sound great (with HD sound). However, I don't have sound through my 5.1 speakers when I'm watching cable. When I first did my connections, I had the cable box connected to the receiver. For unknown reasons, I was getting a very brief cable TV picture and sound and then a blank screen/no sound. I then connected the cable box directly to the TV, which solved the problem except I don't have the option of sound through the 5.1 speakers since I don't have the cable box connected to the receiver.
Anybody have a clue as to why my cable wasn't working properly when connected to the receiver? What are my options for getting 5.1 sound while watching cable? Thanks for your help here as always. Last edited by VentureRG; 01-27-2009 at 11:46 PM. |
