The best advice I got from [X-Men and X2 director] Bryan Singer was: 'Whatever you do, do not read the Internet while making this movie. They were cursing me out the whole time. You can't please everybody, Brett. There's no rules here.'

"I did make rules for myself. I did not want to put one scene in this movie that wasn't existing in a comic book. So they can't say that I made something up - like killing Professor X, which they gave me such shit about, meanwhile he died five times [in the comics]. That comes with the territory.

"All the people who said 'Brett Ratner is the Antichrist and I hope he dies a slow, painful death' are all paying to go see my movie. I don't mind that passion, and I don't agree, but I love a person who's passionate about a comic book character. You gotta give it up for that guy, 'cause he's got nothing else going on in his life. [Laughs] But he's passionate about that, and that's good. That's important. I think that keeps people going."

Well, was he correct? Is everything in X-Men: The Last Stand straight out of the comic books?
I don't really see the problem?

I think he makes some very good points. I mean I read comics when I was a kid and characters died and came back all the time, except Guardian from Alpha Flight and the original Capt. Marvel (Marvel Comics version, not Shazam! from DC.) And if someone is really going to make that big a deal over a movie then maybe they don't have much going on in their life. That would be like me actually taking the time to write George Lucas a nasty letter for changing the ghost image of Anakin at the end of Jedi from Sebastian Shaw to that kid that played him in Episode 3. Do I really care that much? NO, and beside I don't think Lucas would care what I think, just like Bret Ratner doesn't care what comic fans think. That's life, get used to it.

I side with you on this. he didn't anything insulting.

in shorts he said. Not everyone is going to be happy with his work. which to be fair there are always two sides to every movie.

1. those who hated it.
2. those who loved it.

I don't see much of a problem with what he is saying, he's right nerds and geeks can take their love of something to dangerous level.

yeah. so what. I mean people need to take a break if they don't like the movie then stick with the comics and stop bickering.

Eh, I can sort of understand them being bothered if he misrepresents the characters. But to say, "we don't care if he lives or dies" >.<.

Guardian came back.

BTW: Don't mention the changes to Star Wars... it tends to make the Elvi unhappy.

I can't believe how many people on this site are "ok" with him trying everything upside down in the X-Men universe.

Im not a hardcore fan but i still don't like what he did and i also don't agree with those wishing death on him just so you guys know.

I think Downey Jr. Messed up Iron Man and turned into a big comical Joke than serious. Disappointed with him.

no look i didn't like X3, I hated it to be exact. Still Ratner didn't say anything wrong. There are crazy fanatics out there that just needs to learn someone called "Control".

To be fair while I love both movies, Iron Man is far ahead of X3. Maybe not a better cast but a very good lead performance, a solid villain and a storyline that made sense until the climactic final battle.

Sorry - Ratner doesn't get a free pass on a poorly written movie because parts of it were "from the comic book". Still gets a thumbs down from me.

Also, just because it was "from the comic book" doesn't mean he did it justice.

Example: Sentinals - "Ooh, look, a big robot head!" Why bother - the fans got almost nothing, and anyone who wasn't a fan had no idea what that big robot head was.

Just because you didn't like (I myself as well) doesn't someone out there somewhere liked the Brett Ratner version.

The Final Battle in Iron Man movie did throw me off a little. But I guess they are off to a good start.

Agree on the final in Iron Man was a bit on the weak side, I was maybe hoping for a bit more, still a great movie.

Wait ..
[Show spoiler]I don't remember Jean Grey killing Scott (in fact she sacrificed herself to avoid doing so)...
I don't remember Phoenix having a "black effect that disintegrate people".
I don't remember Magneto siding with the Dark Phoenix against the Xmen...

.. etc.
Well .. it must be Alzheimer's striking early I guess.

Edit: Spoiler tags ... for a 3 year old movie ?
