Default Peripheral connectivity with PS3

Obviously with PS3 most things are wireless. But its only the controllers themselves that have a light to show connectivity.

Recently I bought the official headset and not used it yet. Been playing SF IV mostly since i've had it. The problem is, I can't hear anyone on it, I have no option in the game telling me who has a mic and who doesn't. So, i'm completely lost most of the time. It seems so much hassle to get stuff connected.

So, I propose a firmware update or game company standard of the following -

1) An XMB status screen showing connectivity for peripherals.

IE -

Keyboard - Undetected
Webcam - Active
Microphone - Active (Wireless headset) or (Eyetoy)
Player 1 - Active
Player 2 - Undetected
Player 3 - Undetected
Player 4 - Undetected
Wireless connectivity - Detected

Or something similar that Capcom could put in the game itself. The PS3 needs a standard interface that every game must incorperate into its code so that people can find their way around. Personally I feel this screen should be incorperated into boot up of a game. Somewhere just before the intro starts.

When you see everything is connected to go, press X to continue and enjoy your gaming experience.

So come on guys. Lets get this ball rolling, its about time.

The headset has a light and on-screen indicator for status when you press a button, connect or disconnect?

If your not in voice chat, do the SFIV chat settings come up anyway?

I haven't played SF IV so I'm not sure what these settings are.

if the person has a mic in SF IV there will be a mic on his little face icon (you know the icon where you press L2 and R2 to cycle through happy, mad, crying face)
