Help get 7.1? dont think i been getting it. - Blu-ray Forum

I own the Denon 2807 which is capable of 7.1. When I put on a movie thats 7.1 (3:10 to Yuma) or a video game thats has 7.1 (Killzone) I dont think the reciever is actually playing in 7.1. There is a button on my recievers controller that lets you display information on the tv that the reciever is using and it would show 5.1 Multi CH IN and 2CH DOLBY PRO LG CINEMA. How do I make it so that it is 7.1?

are you using an hdmi cable on your blu ray player? what model of player is it

Yes im using HDMI and its on a ps3

Okay,

If you want 7-channel loudspeakers but you have only 5-channel?

your PS3, SETTINGS> Sound Settings> Audio Output Settings> HDMI> Channels that can be used for output 7.1 channel

there is a surround back button on my reciever and when I push it says "no surround back speaker"

Then either it's hooked up wrong or you need to run the setup program to detect your surround backs and calibrate them. Have you tried running test tones through them?
