Default Another "Remake" Bite's the Dust

With all these movies getting remade now days,
What movies do you think are likely to be remade? Whether or not you want them to.

I bet you Hollywood does these somewhere down the road-

Legend
Casablanca
Ben-Hur

I can see them pulling remakes on Ben Hur & Legend but they better not even try Casablanca.

The title of this thread made me think it was news about a planned remake getting canned. I had my fingers crossed on A Nightmare on Elm Street. Anyway...

I've always wanted to see Tim Burton remake Plan 9 from Outer Space. I thought it would be a nice thematic follow up to Ed Wood. I remember reading somewhere that someone was in fact planning to redo this movie, but I'm sure it'll be trash. I wanted a quirky tribute. Oh well.

In fact, a quick search shows that all the movies I was planning to list in this thread already do have remakes in the works. It's getting ridiculous.

Too late, bought my ticket to go pitch the idea for all three of those movies! Mwahahahaa, I will be a millionaire with the cash I'll make off of remaking those puppies!

I love when people make a big stink about remakes. Hollywood has done this almost since day one. So they made the Ten Commandents over again this time with Christian Slater as Moses, who cares?
What is this crap to of running your childhood? Simple solution, if it looks good watch the film if not then don't.

No one seemed to complai when Christopher Nolan remade Batman...Technically he did...

Well, they did a remake of The Pink Panther and it actually did well enough to get a sequel. I think the remake sequel bombed though as I haven't seen any ad's for it since it released. So, I think Hollywood will try and remake anything if they think people will go see it. I guess the next step is to start making remakes of remakes of remakes.

Can you imagine Ashton Kutcher as Judas Ben Hur??

I believe the sequel bombed in the US, but is doing decent overseas. I may be wrong about that, but I swear I read it somewhere. I'm too lazy to go look it up though.

I never bothered seeing the new ones with Steve Martin, while I find him funny, for me The Pink Panthers without Peter Sellers just doesn't work

Personally, I don't view that as a remake at all. It's an original story that ignores the continuity of the past movies. A fresh start that does not recycle the previous movie plots in any way. It's an actual "reboot" of a retired film series. Not to be confused with the current Hollywood buzzword "reboot", which is a deceitful way of saying "remake".

For the record, I agree with you that it's silly to get upset about remakes. If you don't want to see it, don't. Simple as that. And I try to judge each film on its own merits, not how it stacks up to previous versions. I do, however, find the current Hollywood trend of remaking everything a bit troubling. They're way overdoing it. What else is new in Hollywood, though?

They are making them because they make money just like comic book movies and Seth Rogen movies.

To me Remakes and reboots fall in the same category.
