Default MLB Offseason Discussion

Figured we should create one of these instead of making 1000+ new threads for every little thing.

I get a lot of my off-season transactions at www.mlbtraderumors.com, good site.

Coco Crisp just got traded to the Royals

Is it just me or is AJ Burnett very overrated? It seems like the guy is injured most of the time, and when he's healthy his pitching is only slightly above average.

I know that my Braves desperately need some pitching, but I'd rather them sign Derek Lowe or trade for Jake Peavy.

AJ Burnett is not overrated. When healthy, hes at the very top of major league pitching. Its just he can rarely stay healthy.

he can't stay healthy and tends to walk alot of batters when under pressure.

Other than that... he is awesome.

AJ Burnett and C.C. Sabathia will most likely go to the Yankees.

He can win it with the Yankees. The Yankees have a legacy. Do not forget, they do have 26 World Series, 39 AL Pennants, 15 East Divison Titles and 3 Wild Card Berths. Also, look at the retired jerseys at Monument Park in the Yankees Stadium.

u just made it sound like what they did in the past is gonna have some kind of bearing on next year.

that would be like me saying b/c the Packers had Bart Starr, Ray Nitsche, and Vince Lombardi involved in their past that they are gonna win the Super Bowl this year.

I wouldn't be surprised if Sabthia stays with the Brew Crew or goes to the LA Angels like many insiders suspect may happen.

As for AJ... I hope he goes somewhere other than Toronto.

Correction, i adore the Red Wings. My favorite NHL player is Niklas Lidstrom. I do respect what the Habs accomplished in the past. And for the record Blu-Benny, assuming ain't good.

Toronto aren't going no where. They always change managers everynow and then.

what did i assume?? u basically said that b/c the yankees were good in the past that they'll be good again. that is not true.

players, management, front offices, those things will determine if a team is good or not, not the fact that Babe Ruth played for your team 80 years ago.

past success =/= future success.

the yankees HAVE to get pitching this off-season, which i suspect they will, but they absolutely have to get at least two of the following before I would consider them the best team in the AL:

Sabathia
Lowe
Burnett
Peavy (doubtful, but could turn to as last resort)

I don't think the Yanks will pick up Peavy or Burnett. They have a chance at CC and Lowe is probably going to them i think.

They say they are going after Tex, but I don't see it happening. I think either the Angels keep him or he goes to the Red Sox, who are suposedly going to offer him a big deal.

The Yankees could also run into catching problems, Moose will retire and I think Giambi is going, going, GONE.

They have the best GM in Baseball which is Brian Cashman . Every year, the Yanks not only want to go to the playoffs but win a World Series. For the other teams, it's a whole different mentality. The Yanks are always willing to pay the price not matter the sacrifice they need to take in order to be at the top. Often, it works in their favor and recently it didn't.
