Default Free Radical acquired by Crytek

http://www.psbeyond.com/news/Free-Ra...ytek.1081.html

So...who wants to see Timesplitters 4 on CryEngine 2? Probably a rumor though, but have your thoughts on this.

Ars posted the same thing as well. Good news to me. I hope they do work on Timesplitters 4. I would like them to up the graphical fiedelity of the game but keep its kind of cartoonish looks though.

just read about this. hopefully the acquisition will help crytek bring their games to consoles.

however, didn't some of the founders of free radical already move on to create their own company?

I think you're mixing them up with when the former Rare employees formed Free Radical. I don't really recall any of the FR employees that were laid off just weeks ago doing that, but it could happen.

Well I don't think I saw any of that reported on the news. Guess I just missed out. Still, I'm just glad that Free Rad is safe. Now, if they can buy back the dev rights of Battlefront III from Rebelion, that'll make my day.

Yeah you will need to do some searching the founders formed another company but maybe they might come back hopefully...

I worry about them not being there if TS4 happens..

Interestingly, Crytek is known to have been looking for PS3 programmers for quite some time. That would explain this purchase, as Free Radical's last project was a PS3 exclusive.
