Default RE EQ and the Onkyo 805.... Pissin me off!

I love everything about this reciever.. it just has one big problem....
Everytime I engage thx ultra 2 and turn off RE EQ it comes back on automatically when I turn off the reciever and turn it back on...
This sucks because I always have to reach for the remote to turn it back off....
To anybody that has used RE EQ it totally kills the dynamic range on the soundtracks....
Can this be fixed with a firmware upgrade? Has anybody else had this prolem?

Thanks Guys I appreciate the help...

RE-EQ is an essential part of THX processing hence it's defaulted to be on. At the very least it is defeatable, in some THX receivers you can't turn it off when in a THX mode.

If you want no RE-EQ to be a default yet want the 5.1 matrixing to 6.1/7.1, you should chose PIIx or Neo6.

A bigger pain for me is that DRC for Dolby sources is that same way. You have to change it from Auto to Off everytime after you turn the receiver off (think of Ironman).

Why are you using re-eq on today's soundtracks? This is not DVD, and soundtracks on Blu-ray don't really need it. I have not come across one soundtrack in all of the 50 reviews I have done, and all of the 300+ movies I have watched, not one needed re-eq to sound good to these ears. Unless your speakers have a frequency response tilt toward the upper frequencies, leave it off and enjoy hearing what a balanced soundtrack is supposed to sound like.
