Sony announced two new BD players and three new HTiBs.

The WiFi would be nice for those who do not have a wired connection, but only for firmware upgrades. I haven't seen any compelling BD-Live content as yet.

Thanks for the heads-up, Galley.

Hopfully Sony will keep up the good work on their BD players with these new, updated models. I like the idea of Wi-Fi built-in on the 560. The article "alludes" that the 360 will internally decode DTS HD-Master Audio, too (something which the 350 does not).

Now, if only Sony would drop some details on their replacement for the 920 receiver!

Since I don't make full use of my "Backwards Compatible" PS3, I should sell it and make a profit from the S560. I originally bought my PS3 for games but I haven't played any games yet because I've lost interest in gaming. Would that be a stupid move?

not neccesarily stupid

you'd probably have to wait a little longer for start up and disc load times
but no more than a couple extra second probably
i have the bx1 (350) and i put the disc in, walk to the fridge, grab a drink, walk back to the sofa and sit down and the movie is at the previews at the beggining of the disc
the load times are pretty good, but not as fast as the ps3
i assume the 360 and 560 will be about as fast or faster hopefully

and if your not using the ps3 for gaming, it looses one of its biggest perks

the PQ of the two players, some say the ps3 looks alot better than other players or w/e
i dont believe it
i've watched the same movies on ps3 and bx1 and they usually look better on my bx1
so that wont be an issue for u

i would personally make the sell

It only has 2 channel analog out though according to SonyStyle. I'm hoping it's wrong. If not, I'm glad I have the S550.

EXCELLENT news re: the s560.

Hopefully it has multi-channel out.

$350? Does this mean the s350 and s550 will be dropping in prices soon???

Did you see my post above yours? Unless something changes between now and release, it looks like 2 channel analog out. I'm assuming when you say muti, you mean 5.1 or 7.1.

Yes, I saw it - that's what I responded to. I don't think it's 100% clear that it lacks multi-channel out and as you indicate, maybe it's wrong (and, yes, I mean 5.1 or 7.1).

I agree, I just hope that picture of the rear is also just a mock up. That and the specifications stating 2 ch analog just don't make sense. I have the S550 and don't need the upgrade (or downgrade if the 2 ch analog out is true) to wi-fi.

Thats the only reason I'd want built in WiFi (firmware updates).

I'm one of few who like Sony speakers. That BDV-E500W for $800 looks spiffy.

Won't be surprised if analog is going away (but 2 ch). It's exactly like when DTS was on DVD. They started to sell DVD that decode it with 5.1 output then one day they remove it from all model but the high end ones..

What exactly is the s360 as compared to the s350? Does it decode DTS-HD MA?

Right now, they're skyrocketing - at least the S550 is. I've been watching them for about a month.

They went from $280 a month ago, to $372 just now on Amazon. It makes no sense.

Pioneer is going to come out in a few weeks and eat their lunch.

Yeah, when do those Pioneers come out?

This s560 is very intriguing to me. If it only had 5.1/7.1 analog out, it would be the perfect player.

Now I have to decide between the s550 (analog outs), the s560 (wi-fi), and the PS3 (wi-fi plus games, which I don't really care that much about, but the price is about to be hard to pass up).

What a terrible life.

if i were you i will choose BDP-S550 ,why you want wifi just for firmware update,if you have a computer just download it and put it on your cd.Still BDP-S550 a great blu-ray player for its analog outputs feature which can support users who have an old receiver.

I agree with you ---- if the price comes down when the s560 is released. Otherwise, I can't see paying $400 for it (for various reasons that I won't bore you with, I need to get it from a B&M).
