Default Help pick my 1st player: SONY BDP-S560 or SAMSUNG BDP-3600

Hi

1st time posting... would really appreciate your help.

I'm In the process of buying my 1st Blueray player... I've been shopping around for about 2 weeks, read reviews online as well as different forums.... these are my 2 picks.

I would like feedback and recommendations please.

I'm not much of a "tech" guy... don't know much about the "specs" of players. an "easy" machine to setup would be a good thing for me!!

Also wanted to add that I will use this BD player mainly for movies... I dont think that I will use it for internet stuff/looking at pictures/mp3 ETC

I want a BD player that works for MOVIES... Good sound & image... thats it

Like I said before... Maybe they are other options out there that would be better for my needs (movies quality only)... please feel free to recommend others BD players

I dont really have a budget, but at the same time I like to upgrade my components pretty often as they get better, so I would like to keep it reasonalbe knowing that I will most likely upgrade/change it in the next year or 2

Thanks for your help

Dan

I'd go with the Sony. If you are willing to spend a little more and never have to upgrade go with the OPPO-83

If you want extra features go with the Samsung, if you want a reliable player go with the Sony.

I myself have the Samsung 3600...And so far so good..absolutly no problems (knocking on wood)...
I like this player alot...and although you may not need certain features, you may just the same, find them useful, if not right away, later on...
Myself I love especialy the front usb port , I plug up a 500 or 640 gog hd packed with films and just play....or a usb stick for a quick film or pictures
Also...seems (so far) any format I put, works (jpeg, mp4, mp3, avi etc)...no reconverting etc...
Image quality is beautiful ....easy to use...and updating (though some have had problems) the firmware is simple....
As for hooking it up...has every type you may need..hdmi, composite, toslink, coaxial, analog, regular rca video....so, you have MANY options..

Good luck in choosing...there are many players/models each with different features...might want to write what you are looking for in a player, and use that as a guide.

I would recommend either Sony or OPPO, both are great players and both companies are good with firmware updates.

Good Luck.

Default SONY BDP-560 all the way, or even the 360 (if you do not need wi-fi)

I DO NOT recommend SAMSUNG players at all buddy. Do yourself a favor and buy a SONY branded Blu-ray player. Or if you have extra cash, buy the OPPO 83. The choice is yours, as a long as Samsung is not one.

In addition to the Oppo, the LG 370 and 390 are excellent players with many good features.

Sony all the way. I have the prior model, the S550, and it is a flawless player and the picture quality is top-notch.

Good choice. Sony players are great. I love my BX2 (360). Very reliable machines, unlike the Samsung players.

Good choice, Dan. My Sony 350 has been a flawless machine and has played every disc (of course, I've also kept up with the firmware updates).

Welcome to the forums!

Hi Dan, if you do not mind, would you consider LG BD-390 instead? Even though you got ur 560.

Among all BD players that I own (Sony BDP-S1, S300, S350, S550, PS3, Panasonic 35K, 55K, OPPO 83, Samsung 3600, LG BD390), LG 390 has better PQ than Sammy 3600, and it is using the same chip as Samsung 3600. If you have any friend who knows how to use soldering iron, LG 390 can even compete "head to head" with OPPO 83! I got mine LG from amazon.com for $237...

Sony is the way to go, I have an older Sony BDP-300 and I love it...I'm sure the newer products the 550 and 560 will suit you just fine!
