Question for the Britons

I was just wondering (and this is out of sheer curiosity, so I don't have any ulterior motives or uses for this) if you guys learn about the American Revolution in your secondary school history classes. And, if you do, how is it taught? Is it like a cursory glance at it like how we Americans are taught about Vietnam (because we lost)? Or is it fairly in-depth?

I'm also wondering what kind of spin, if any, your history books put on it.

If I recall correctly we covered the AWOI for a good few weeks (half a term or so) when I was in the 3rd year of secondary grammar school (9th grade? - 14/15 years old) back in 1983-84. I've just checked through Wiki to refresh memory and so much stuff came flooding back that it must have been in reasonable detail. At the time we had an experimental curriculum with some pretty diverse stuff, and this was part of it. We were taught by Mr Davies, a Welshman, so he loved anything that stuck it to the British government!!! Nothing was sugar-coated and that made it all the more interesting to me.
