It all starts out with the Columbia logo looking very haggard. The opening sequence in Egypt is full of scratches and blemishes as if the master came from a very poor print.

It settles down over time, but since it was the first impression for many, and you can see why people freaked in retrospect. But, it is certainly better than the DVD. There is a lot of detail that isn't in the best DVD transfer.

People have come to realize you can't expect perfection from a 10+ year old movie. But, I'm sure Sony did a much better master this time, and that along with a high bit-rate AVC, BD50, and extras, should make TFE shine this time.

paidgeek indicated there would be. Although, I'm sure the N-dipping accountants will be freaking at the precedence. So, we'll see if it happens.

DVDs have come with rebates for current owners. Perhaps they'll do it that way.

Even if I had bought T5E when it was $14.99 during that sale, I'd be fine buying this new one for $19.99.

BD50, AVC/MPEG-4 encoding, PCM, Dolby TrueHD.

Yummy.

im tempted to rebuy just to do a side by side. but hey, im single with my own house so i need to pincha buck or two here and there for the bar

I just pre ordered it, to do that side by side thing.

It will be the fourth time I have bought that movie, now that I think about it.
