Default Error Resiliency Schemes

I am curious as to what schemes exactly are deployed to minimize effect of media errors and if more can be done to further minimize effect of media errors. For example would a spatial layout of the sectors where the first bit of every byte is put in the begining of the sector, the second bit of every byte put in after that, etc. and then some error detection and correction that is already in use put on top of that help reduce effect of media errors?

That's a thorny question. It may be based on the assumption that 98+% is considered writable. With all the compression, a single glitch could easily create digital palet effects, and other artifacts.

Might also be parity and other error correction algorythms to keep it playing smoothly. I suppose others here can answer in more detail.
