Hey guys! I am looking to pull the trigger on a Pioneer Elite receiver, but I have read alot of things saying that the audio isnt supported through HDMI. Is that correct? I thought the Elites were the best, and did it all. I don't want to have to connect HDMI and Optical Audio for each component. Also, would i be better off with a high end Denon? Thanks!!

Mine supports it and am using it. I don't have a receiver that has dts hd, I have an older one, and even that worked out of the box. There may have been some that needed the firmware update a few years ago, but I'm sure they have solved that problem by now.

You are about a week or 2 late on a great sale at BB on the Elites...especially if you were looking at the upper end Elites. |

I went into a local Magnolia stand alone yesterday, and the sales guy told me he would honor the same sale price as last week on the Pioneer Elite. I guess they are really wanting to make some sales. He told me he would do it till the end of the month. Just FYI for anyone who missed out like me. (I was out of town during the sale)

Mine works just fine. Have my DirecTV receiver and my PS3 running HDMI to the receiver and get all audio. And I definitely recommend the Elite. I actually used to work for Magnolia here in Oregon (they closed my store), and I played with both pretty thoroughly, and liked the Elite much better. Hope this helps.

Here is some of the information I am seeing all over the place which makes me hesistant about the Elite series; Hopefully people can understand my confusion.
This Pioneer Elite receiver has overall pleased me to the fullest. The sound is full, crisp and clear with no distortion at high levels. Operations can be tricky but is always with todays receivers. After messing around with all the features for a few hours, I was very pleased. Even though the HDMI doesn't support audio, I believe the audio out through its optical connections is much more reliable for proper surround sound. Some of the newer more expensive units with HDMI 1.3 have had some problems with decoding the audio properly. I'll stick with the optical until they can get the bugs out. A+ on this Pioneer Elite receiver |
