Default Houdini action-thriller in the works!

Quote:
Summit Entertainment has unlocked "The Secret Life of Houdini: The Making of America's First Superhero," picking up feature-film rights to the biography by William Kalush and Larry Sloman.

The studio is not looking to make a biopic but rather an action thriller featuring a character who is part Indiana Jones and part Sherlock Holmes. Summit hopes to cash in on worldwide recognition of Houdini’s name while potentially launching a franchise.

A Houdini movie if well done sounds awesome...what do you guys think? What are some of your casting suggestions? I think Johnny Depp would rock...

Johnny Depp is in too many movies as it is, he should take a vacation. plus since it's the "making of" I 'm guessing it will be a young houdini and focus on the WB teen crowd.

also, that title is retarded......

"The Secret Life of Houdini: The Making of America's First Superhero".....come on guys, could it be any more blatant in trying to ride the super hero fad?

some exec heard about what Guy Ritchie is doing with Sherlock Holmes and was like, "hmm, what other old school personality could we parlay with this?"

next will be "Jack the Ripper:Emo Slasher"...hey it worked for Twilight, right? the tagline for the trailer will be "it hurts inside when I kill....."

good point with depp. i just see him pulling off the magician role really well. and yeh...i'm assuming that title will be changed for the movie. as unoriginal as it is, "Houdini" sounds like a fine name all in itself.

I just KNOW I'm going to see this film out in theaters in the next couple of years now.

The premise of a Houdini action flick seems kind of... non sequitor, but I'd probably watch it.

If we're going with well-known people for the role, I'd go with Robert Downey Jr... but with the Sherlock Holmes movie being made, that'd be a little odd.
