Not a major topic and i know its still a while from now, but i was just wondering. How do you think Sony will handle the issue of getting your PSN titles you download on your PS3 to your PS4. I mean i dont want to buy a bunch of games that will have absolutely no resale value(because they're downloads) just to have them wasted when the PS4 comes out. and i know somebody will say "just keep your PS3." Thats what i said i would do with my PS2, but in the end i know i'll end up getting rid of it. If i do end up keeping it, i'm probably not going to want to use my PS3 for gaming. Do you think Sony will even let you transfer them? Redownload them through your PSN ID maybe?(that would be a major pain!)

I'm sure you'll still be using the same PSN Store as you are currently using for the PS3 and PSP as well as Account Information.
Granted you have to redownload everything, but thats only a 1 time deal as you can just Backup your system afterwards (assuming they keep the Backup feature in the new model). |

I always thought the same thing, but like xtop said, it would be possible. But only if you have the same account you bought it from so you won't have to pay for it again and if the PS4 will be backwards compatable with the PS3 games.

if nothing else, i would hope that sony would issue credits to your PSN account for all of the data you wouldnt be able to trasnfer over to the next gen console, heres hoping that it will all be backward compatible, but you never know, i still want to play my god of war and hitman games and my PS2 quit on me

Funny you should say that. I've noticed some of my downloads going at 2mb a second when I check the status. Not all of them, but some seem very speedy and it didn't used to be that fast. Maybe they've updated servers or something.

I actually just thought of an awesome idea that Sony NEEDS to implement for the PS4. I dub it the "cheap model"
It is basically a PS4, but without a hard drive (probably costing $50-100 less than the standard model). Then what they should let you do is move your hard drive from the PS3 to the PS4 while retaining all of the content on it. Think of it as an easy way to convert PS3'rs to the next generation ![]() |
