Default Capcom looking at bringing between 20 and 40 PSone/PSP titles to the PSN

http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/04/ca...nd-psp-titles/

Quote:
Capcom is going to make its PlayStation Network presence a lot more robust as it begins releasing ports of PS1 titles and providing downloadable versions of previous PSP titles throughout the year. We spoke with Capcom's Chris Kramer, who let us know that the company would be listening to what the community wants and figuring out internally what titles to release -- but don't expect any of them to involve licensing shenanigans along the lines of Marvel vs. Capcom.

"We'll definitely be looking at a lot of titles that have things like Street Fighter and Resident Evil in the title," Kramer said. "We're thinking about putting together a long list of the titles we're looking at, and then releasing it on Capcom Unity and having people vote on them. Ultimately we're looking at bringing between 20 and 40 titles to the PSN over the next several months."

Quote:
According to the ESRB, several more PSone titles are coming to the PlayStation Network in North America (and likely Europe), including multiple games from both the Spyro and Street Fight Alpha series.

Here are five more confirmed PSone classics:

Spyro: Year of the Dragon
Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage!
Street Fighter Alpha 2
Street Fighter Alpha 3
Wipeout XL

Thus far, Sony has provided a decent archive of PSone classics on the PSN... in Japan. In North America and Europe, the PSone offerings are fairly sparse. We'd love to see titles like Metal Gear Solid and Final Fantasy VII make their way to English-speaking regions.
hopefully we see a lot more stories like this leading up to e3

I really enjoyed that title all the way up until the end where it just got plain weird.

I agree that revealing all of these PS1 titles will only give a UMD-less PSP more fuel to its success.

i bought the majority of my ps1 collection during 2004-2005, obviously for cheap. Now my collection is worth a lot, and its full of top gems

just give us RPGs. Games from other genres don't age as well (even if they were awesome at the time) - other exception would be 2D sidescroller/action games (Strider 2, Silhouette Mirage, Tomba 1/2, etc...)

Gaf keeps track of PS1 games rated by the ESRB that haven't been released yet. Wipeout XL was rated before last October. Here's what the list currently looks like:

Everything but Spyro 2 was listed by the ESRB as of January. I think some poor guy at PSU went digging through all the PS1 titles he could think of.

Grrr... c'mon, when are we going to get the GOOD games on the PSN, the awesome RPGs that are out there in Japan's PSN, the RE games, etc? Sigh.
