Van Helsing (UK) preorder question

I see that Van Hellsing is available in the UK for preorder and seeing as it's a Universal disc, will this be region free?

I have region A player and would love to get it, even more so since it has Japanese subtitles (just like the UK release of Wanted, which was also region free)

Any ideas? Should I go ahead and preorder? Take the risk?

It's already out in Germany but costs way too much with their standard shipping fees ($43 w/shipping)... No word yet on either being region free but it's Universal so there's a good chance it is...

Universal titles so far in the UK have been region free (with the execption of one universal release as far as I know).

You can get it cheaper at play.com in their 2 for £22 deal (as long as you want another film obviously ). That's where my order currently sits.

As for region free I couldn't say, but pretty much all Universal are region free so it's a safe bet. Though might be worth waiting until it's released so somebody can check first just so you're not wasting your money on a disc that doesn't play.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll see if there's another title I like at Play.com.

As for the region of the disc, I think I'll take the plunge and risk it. Universal has been 99% region free in the UK and considering it's a catalog title (with Japanese subs on it), I'll go for it.

There's plenty to choose from (450+), and include all the Bourne and Fast & Furious films. Spent far too much myself on there over the past few weeks

I've been waiting for it forever to be released in the US. I hope when it is finally released it will be better than the HD DVD version (video transfer wise).

I own the German version and can confirm that it is region free indeed.
The upcoming UK release should be exactly identical.
