Excellent ! I can't wait to see what the extras are. Maybe this will be a big seller for Olive so they can get back in the game like they used to ? The one thing I hated about Olive was their lack of extras, so I love that they are concentrating on Signature releases. These are great.....

I'll wait for the revues on this one.

My understanding, and I may have misunderstood, is that the original elements are no longer available, hence the continued appearance only in SuperScope 2.00:1.

This will be a double dip for me as well (not counting DVD's) but thats ok, there are some films I can not wait for....

Evidently there was an Artisan special edition dvd planned back in the early 2000’s that Joe Dante & Kevin McCarthy recorded a commentary track for. The project was not completed in time before Artisan lost the Republic Pictures library rights. I’ve always heard the track was actually recorded, so it would be a great score if they found away to include this.

If they have that, I'll buy it in a second. Otherwise, it's really going to depend on extras. I didn't like this version nearly as much as the 1978 or even 1993 versions (I'm a heathen, I know). I saw it third, so that has something to do with it, but that ending really kind of killed it for me. Much like Psycho! I know they were studio mandated, but yuck.

Man I'd love it if viewers got the choice to watch the movie as is or have it end where Siegel originally wanted it to. Technically one can always hit "Stop", but a switch to a black credit screen once the fade to the police station occurs would be awesome.

That's my understanding too. The PQ will forever be less than optimal because it's zoomed in and cropped from the original AR as shot.

This release is probably going to be all about extras more so than any improvement in A/V.

One of my favorite films, but the only way I would truly get excited about this is if they found the original camera neg or substantially finer elements to yield a new master.

It would be cool if we could get the 2.00:1 and the 1.85:1 ratio and one with the tacked on ending and one without.
