auto contrast
auto color
auto brightness
auto black levels

he is saying a proper hdtv should only have auto settings just like when people do photo correction with photos

That looks like a TV that I wouldn't purchase. Based on default settings, I would like to adjust anything and everything to get it calibrated for my environment.

wouldn't it be simpler then adjusting all the time

It does but I wouldnt want a TV devoid of tweaking capabilities...its all in the eyes of the beholder!
