Pretty surprised it's getting a 4K release given how badly it tanked at the box office (the whole "in theaters now" tag seems a bit wrong as it left the vast majority of theater after two weeks and I think has now officially closed), I thought Fox even doing a DVD only release was possible as that's happened with a few of the biggest recent bombs. It's nothing great or original, but I like this type of movie and enjoyed it enough.

I'm kinda glad it's getting a 4K UHD.
Gives it a pretty good boast in that it's first genuine box office bomb in the format. That said, I liked it for what it was, hence why I will add it to my home video collection. |

I was interested in this based on the trailer, but then it got bad reviews. I still wanted to see it in the theater anyway, but that never happened. Is this the kind of movie that doesn't succeed at what it sets out to do, but is still entertaining? It's weird to say but sometimes I enjoy watching something mediocre with the advanced knowledge that it is, there's a certain crappy junk food quality that I sometimes respond to. The cast is great too, so there's that. Just wondering what people thought and if this is worth my time in any way. I'll probably check it out at Redbox at the least anyway.

Oh man!!! So this movie isn't worth being mentioned in the same breath as Ex Machina!!?? It's been on my WATCH LIST for half a year. So many negative comments: on here, in the news section (announcing it's release date), and on Metacritic (averaged a 48).
I was hoping this was going to be awesome 😖 |

Damn! When I first saw the trailer, I thought for sure it was going to be great. Especially because that actress is fresh from VVitch, which she was great in.

I really wanted to love this movie. I'm a huge Ridley Scott fan, so I had high hopes for his son, and although I didn't care for LOOM (which is supposed to be an extra on this Blu-Ray release) -- I thought the visuals were stellar, and the direction was promising. Unfortunately, in hindsight, I'd say that LOOM was a pretty good indicator of the quality of MORGAN. Looks nice, has a stellar cast, but pretty "meh."
On the other hand, I'd love to give Scott one final chance, because I think most of the problems with this film are with the writing (which is also what I'd say about LOOM). I don't think the main "plot twist" being predictable is the problem (as many critics have complained), I just think we are given very little reason to care about it. People have compared this to EX MACHINA, which was a film that [Show spoiler] , and yet it was a lot more satisfying than this film. Why? Because it got you thinking about "big ideas."In MORGAN, we are left with a lot of questions, especially because of the film's central plot twist, but I didn't find any of the implications of that twist particularly engaging. This is the first film (that I can think of) that I would consider to be "underwritten." It was a nice thought, and I don't regret my one-time watch, but if the writer had been willing to take some risks to surprise and engage us philosophically, it could have been a lot better. On that note, if anyone who buys this release would like to give me the lowdown on the audio commentary and deleted scenes -- if there's anything of added value there -- I'd appreciate it. I thought it was decent. A nice fall Saturday afternoon matinee kind of movie. Not great but given that it flopped so thoroughly and has such a terrific cast and is pretty watchable I expect a few years from now to see people discovering this movie randomly and overhyping it(like - pardon the hot take - Event Horizon).
