Default NBA 2k9 vs NBA Live 09

As we all can agree, the 2k series tops the charts in basketball game series. The movements are smoother on 2k than Live, and the graphics are slightly better than Live. Few things I've noticed this year's Live 09, is the mechanics of the game have been slightly better than the previous series. There online play is better also (thanks to EA server), compared to the 2k server. I like the idea of the Layup button is different than the Shoot button (even though u can still shoot a 3 using the square button). The blocking is horrible, and the steal/intercept is horrible also. The blocking in 2k isn't much better but its easier to pull than on Live. I've always been a 2k fan since the game came out on the Sega Dreamcast (which I still own), but I think in a few years, Live will be able to compete with 2k. In the meantime, I'll play 2k for the franchise mode, and Live for online gaming

To all sports game fans, let me know what you think of both games if you own them both.

every year i buy nba 2k and every year i sell it within 2 weeks.

i HATE the way the players move in 2k. they feel very loose and i get caught up in stupid animations that i dont want.

i havent played live since live 95 for the snes. well i played the demos and it seems pretty fluid and not so many 'boxed in animations'

i think next year im going to buy live. im sick of 2k basketball games as a whole

2006 - Traded Live 06 for 2K6
2007- Traded Live 07 for 2K7
2008- Traded Live 08 for 2k8
2009 - Only year that I have kept Live 09, it is def. an overall better game,

the everyday roster updates
the online play
be a pro
the graphics
the crowd and atmosphere of the game is a lot better
Hot and Cold streaks
The Game play does have a bunch of glitches that should be fixed in Live 10.
If you find a decent set of sliders though, some of the glitches seem to be less noticeable.

my choice would be live 09, 2K hasn't changed in 4 years, and they tried to coy live with their half ass living rosters which is garbage.

I think the last nba game I bought was NBA Live 06' for Xbox 360. I enjoyed it a lot. I liked the commentary between Steve Kerr and Marv Albert (no pun intended). I haven't really played the latest, because it doesn't make sense to buy these anymore. You play several nba games on there over and over again, and it just gets old to me.

I personally perfer Live to 2K. Just my two cents.

I feel ya.. All sports games are repetitive anyways. But people still buy them every year wishing for new moves, updated roster..etc... At this point of sports gaming, you can't change anymore to it. You just play because you love to play.

Live 09 = Bad-A$$! It is far superior to any NBA live previously made, and is superior to 2K.

To each is own I guess.

I don't really think it is superior to the 2k series. It still has too many glitches that needs to be fixed. It is a better Live series than the previous ones. But IMO, it still doesn't top the charts as the number 1 basketball game.

I never talked about NBA 09! The Life! oh wait that game sucks.

NBA 2k9 is not a easy game, is more idea for people who actually play basketball and require tactics to win the game, while NBA live 09 is more for beginner and much easier to control.(lots of dunks).

Bottom line 2k9 is the most realistic basketball game you can get in today, virsual blow live out of water.

I agree, they consider 2k as a simulation game, more than an arcade game like Live. Only great thing about Live is the all star weekend games you can play, Dunk contest, 3 point shoot out. All that on 2k blows! especially the dunk contest. The online gaming on 2k is slow also, only reason why I play Live is when I wanna play someone online. But like I said, Live is about one more year or so away from being a competitive basketball game. Good Luck EA

If you want to play real basketball, go outside and work on your game.

Ok seem like a EA fanboy goes overboard. By the way you don't know me, so don't like you do.

You don't know me. LOL. And I am no fanboy of EA, I just play games that I like. Overboard, LOL times two. All that I did was say you should play real basketball if that is what you want.

NBA 2k9 is the most sim game I've ever played. It's better than live in my opinion. The only thing I hate about 2k9 is getting stuck in those stupid animations. It's like my player is being controlled by a ghost sometimes.

LIKE I SAID, 2K IS BETTER THAN LIVE. But Live has done some good things for the franchise this year. Hopefully will get better soon. Because it use to be a fun game to play. I still prefer 2k over Live. But it can't always take center court, plus we all know NBA 09 sucks so there's no way that's gonna be up there with Live and 2k anytime soon.

Never thought sports game would be good on the PC. But then again how would i know, I think I still own NBA Live 99 for the PC. And it was hard to calibrate the keys to a pc controller. But I know PC games do have nice graphics.
