Default NBA 2K8 or NBA LIVE 08

Hey all! This is my first post and this blu-ray site is great! Thanks for having me. I'm a big basketball fan and I've stuck with the 2K series for quite some time now. I've read reviews for it on IGN.COM and they say its gonna be another hit now. I've also tried the new NBA LIVE 08 demo which just came out a few days ago and WOW....it sure is great as well. Haven't tried a demo or even seen a clip of the 2K8. It's a bit of a dilemma but what do you hoops fans think? LIVE OR 2K?

What 2k8 for sure

  • The Live demo ran at 30fps and it claimed that the official game will be 60fps (whats that all about)
  • The AI in the Live demo was horrible, like last season's Live 07' (which was ommited from the ps3 last year thank god )
  • Shooting just does not seem as fluid, seems static and unrealistic (like half-assed motion capture)
  • Live had a cool soundtrack though, 2k7's soundtrack last year was awesome
  • The Sixaxis free throw in the Live 08' was much better than 2k7's Sixaxis free throwing
.
Ever notice since the Dreamcast the 2k series has been the best. I personally have found it to be more technical and enjoyable

Yeah there actually were a few gliches in the demo when I was running the Spurs vs Cavs. It got pretty annoying. But you're right, the 2K series has offered the most realistic and complete basketball simulation year in and year out. NBA LIVE is too arcade-like. Characters move too quickly and seem a little jumpy. It was just different seeing LIVE 08 slow down the pace a bit this year and it caught my eye. But thanks for the feedback. The 2K demo will definitely rock! See you on the courts via internet.

NBA 2K8 for me... it's my favorite sports game series. It plays GREAT and runs SMOOTH every year. I just wish the graphics were better compared to Live but regardless, NBA 2K will always be king.

Well, I too downloaded the live 08' demo and was greatly dissapointed. From all of the various nba tittles that have come out over the years, I have to say that NBA07 has had the the most fluid gameplay responses and controls I've ever played in a b-ball game.I don't know why2k is getting all of this praise, because it's far from perfect. Yes the 2k series is exceptional but that damed shot stick just dosent feel natural and your forced to use the left analog stick for crossovers and other offensive moves.Anyone who has played all three titles knows what I mean and cant deny it. EA ought to be ashamed of themselvs for churning out such garbage this year. I hope that I'm geting ahead of my self and the final version of live is a lot better than the demo because it's just really, really bad . PSN id mrb713
