Default just picked up nba 2k8

Hey all. I just picked up a copy of nba 2k8 from circuit city this afternoon and got to play a quick game with my lakers vs. the clippers. Here is some feedback:

- the graphics/animations this year are a little dicey. Some of the cut scenes are not as smooth as they could be. Player animations are not the greatest as well. Some players don't even look like themselves at all! However, the way the players move on the court (i.e. juke moves, jumpshots, finishing around the rim) are well coordinated and life-like.

- The commentating and sound effects are great. The crowd adapts to the flow of the game and the commentators give in-depth analysis on key plays and players.

- The A.I. has an equal amount of brains as they do skills this year. They guard you well on defense as well as move the ball for the best possible shot (most of the time). In other words, if you don't get a hand in their face, you will pay...

- I haven't really tried much of the other features but you can play online, compete in a dunk contest, or take total control of a franchise while placing certain players in their roles on the team and building the team to contend for the nba title.

All in all, it's a great game but not the best that 2ksports is capable is delivering. I don't know about NBA 08 or LIVE 08 but for those 2k8 fans out there, this one year's project is definiltey worth picking up again...

I personally enjoy the game very much, and please don't think this is a biased assumption of a nba2k fan. I have tried live for a few years and enjoy that series as well although the gameplay is more arcade like. It's just different. But based on the gameplay of this years nba2k, I would highly recommend it. I played one quickgame, one dunk contest, and one game online. After that, I was hooked. IGN.COM has given this game quite a low rating despite all of the hype brought up in their previews for nba 2k8, but after reading the review, it was based on a few minor flaws that most fans will be able to deal with. I am guessing that these reviewers were expecting flawless perfection, but which nba series (let alone any game) can offer that? If you're skeptical, give it a rent first. I'm pretty sure you'll like it though...see you on the courts if you do end up getting the game...happy gaming!
