ok...so i found a great price on the epson 6100...heres my situation...i just bought a house...im turning the master bedroom (19x12) into my "always wanted" home theater...so i figured i'd put my samsung hl67a750 67" in the room as my main video display...ill use my sony sxrd 60" in the bedroom and i just bought a panny tcp50g10 for the living room...so do i return the plasma, move the 67 to the bedroom and put the 60 in the living room...and buy the epson with a 103" screen?

ha...not quite...more or less...return the plasma for and spend a little extra on the epson and rearrange everything i was planning...basically from everything ive been told the projector is the way to go...but i feared it being to big or overwhelming from 8 feet away

You already know the answer. You want the projector.

I'm confused.... if it's a 19X12 room that is going to be a HT, starting from scratch....... how would your viewing distance only be ~ 8' ???? I think you should try other layouts.... but regardless... just get the projector....

With a room that size, as long as you can control the light, front projection is ALWAYS the way to go!! ![]() |

At 10 feet, a 2.35:1 will look nice and big. No doubt. |

Try projectorcentral.com or projectorpeople.com
Use a throw distance calculator to determine how things can line up in your room. When I was doing research for my Home Theatre, I opted for front projection because I had the space and was able to control the light. My plans grew as I researched - and what initially was going to be a dual use room with a pull down screen, turned into a dedicated room with the screen permanently mounted on the wall. It's really fun to set up a front projection HT! If you do decide on Front Projection, even the smaller screens will be huge compared to the biggest TV's. But those websites will help you find the right projector for the right screen that will fit your size of room. |
