ok...real quick

Samsung BD-P1400 player says DTS-HD on it, NOT DTS-HD MA. I'm getting ready to get the $299 Pioneer receiver over the weekend that decodes DTS-HD MA. Will I still be able to get MA even if the player doesnt say it supports it on there? Do they even have anything to do with each other?

thanks.

news from 2007 : New Samsung Blu-ray Player Unlocks DTS-HD Master Audio
Quote:
Now, thanks to a firmware upgrade released last week for Samsung's new BD-P1400 Blu-ray player, for the very first time consumers with compatible receivers are finally hearing DTS-HD MA in all its glory.

Yessir that would be it. I'm excited as hell. I lurk about in this forum and I always wonder what its like to experience HD sound like you guys do. My curiosity got the best of me and I've decided to take the plunge. Since this is my foray into A/V receivers, what do you guys recommend for 5.1 surround? As far as speakers and a sub.

If I am reading crackinhedz post correctly, a simple firmware update would allow you to receievr the codec that you are missing and therefor save you $299.

edit: I dont know your current receiver and was assuming it accepted audio over HDMI...i should slow down with my responses.

...not exactly.

The firmware update from 2007 allows the Samsung BD-P1400 to Bitstream Dts-HD MA.

Meaning, his new receiver will be allowed to decode the audio.

Quote:
...Note that unlike most TrueHD compatible next-gen players, the BDP-1400 doesn't decode the MA tracks internally, but rather it outputs them via HDMI 1.3 as a raw bitstream for decoding by a compatible receiver...
