Default how to clean streaks off an lcd screen...

ok well i have a 46inch sharp and a 24 inch dell hd monitor. This is really more for the dell monitor, but someone touched the screen and left finger prints and i went to clean it with my lcd cleaning soultion and cloth that came with it. And now it left streaks. could it be the souliton i used isnt very good. Should i buy a better one. I hear best buy has one that works really well. Is there another way to get these streaks out?

Best Buy has the Monster Cable - TV Screen Cleaning Kit $19.99.
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1069297113224
Works well.

On a side note, a moist soft cloth(microfiber preferably) will do a great job as well.

I have also used Falcon Safety Products - Dust-Off Monitor Wipes $9.99
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1051384522262

Worked well also.

microfiber cloth and lens cleaner (i.e. what you would use to clean glasses). works great and doesn't harm your tv, just make sure to dab some on the cloth, not the tv itself

Post Microfiber Cloth

Way to go Steve! But I still think I prefer my chain saw.

Seriously, I bought a bunch for my eyeglasses, but this place has larger ones for cleaning. Most have sewn edges, but I got the plain cut ones for my glasses.

http://www.microfibertech.com/Microf...ck_p_0-52.html
I got 100 7" x 6" cloths for $47.45 delivered.

They also sell a cleaning kit for $14.95.

Oh, I forgot to mention, get white or a very light color and wash them frequently so you don't rub dirt against the screen and scratch it.

Do not buy this Monster Screen clean stuff, it ruined my screen on my Samsung LN-46A650!!! It makes the screen go from amazingly clear to super cloudy! I highly advise to not even bother with that product. I am desperately trying to get the cloudiness/smears out, and it is kind of working with a micro-fiber and plain water!

Am I the only person that "herrs" on the screen then wipe with a microfiber cloth?

Works great on my set and my TOTL VAIO screens!

Try not letting the solution dry on the screen.

I tried to be as fast as humanly possible. I sprayed a little on the provided micro-fiber rag then wiped it gently on the TV, then flipped the rag to a dry spot and wiped/buffed dry. And bam!, super hazy. I tried this for 2 hours yesterday! "Right before the game of course." I even thought there might be some oily residue on the rags, so I washed all of the rags and tried again. Same thing happened. The only thing that made it somewhat better, was dabbing the supplied rag into filtered water and wipe, then dry with another micro-fiber rag.

I know some have had good luck with that Monster brand, but all I can say is that is does not work on the glossy screen on the 650's... The whole bottle's in the trash...

Maybe it's the 650's screen.

These VAIO's have relatively smooth/glossy screens(polarized) and they clean rather easily with water, Falcon Monitor Wipes, or the Monster solution without streaks or cloudyness.

What was on the screen to start with?
Do you smoke?
How long do you go between cleanings?

Not trying to defend Monster, it's just that there has to be some combination of things causing it - otherwise it would happen to everyone.

There was a small little smudge of some kind on the TV about 2" in size. Probably some kind of like finger smudge or something. Nothing harmful or anything.

I do not smoke, but I can see how that would effect things.

I mean if you looked just right at the screen where I applied the Monster Screen Clean it looked like going from a nice glossy screen to a matte screen. Totally noticeable. I got most of that off with plain water, but the screen is really smeary and hazy still where said cleaner was applied...

And with the TV just being over 2 weeks old, this is the first cleaning...

So I really don't know, I am clueless...

Pretty sure it is water based - get a new microfiber cloth and moisten it - not wet, moist.

If it is the Monster cleaner, it *should* wipe off easily.

Odd.

Yeah, like I said some people have had good luck with it. And others not so much. If ya look around, there have been other people saying it leaves streaks as well... I am pretty sure, it will work great for matte finish and plasmas. But it just left this film all over on my TV.

But I think I have my problem fixed! I used the cloth that came with the TV (DRY), and wiped it very soft over my entire TV for about 30 minutes (talk about a back ache!) and it seemed to take the very faint smears off! Or at least in the light conditions I had before. It seems like that did the trick. Again, I am not trying to bash Monsters cleaning stuff. I just was saying it didn't work for me. It seemed like it was drying too fast or something. But then again when its 10° outside and no humidity I guess that will do that!

That's exactly what it is. Don't sprey the whole screen then wipe. Spray on a small area or even half of the screen then wipe, then do the next side. you can't let that solution dry up on your screen.
