In searching to better understand which movies are distributed by which companies in various countries, I came across this list of the top 100 grossing UK movies:
http://www.launchingfilms.com/databa...ms+of+all+time Now, what struck me is that Universal hardly appear in there, their top title is Notting Hill at 32, but UIP feature quite a lot in there. So I looked for more info on UIP, and it seems they are jointly owned by Universal and Paramount: http://www.skillset.org/film/stories...cle_3455_1.asp Now, from the list I can see King Kong is a UIP movie and is HD-DVD exclusive here in the UK, but Mission Impossible is also UIP and is out on both formats. So will it just depend which of the two studios actually made the movie, i.e. is the list of 100 movies basically useless for seeing which movies will come out on which format without the further info of which UIP movies are Universal and which are Paramount? |
