Check that model for reviews on Amazon. If that is your price range for a sub, go with it. Energy makes excellent speakers.

Yes it is being discontinued. I was gonna get it when it was at $185 but ended up getting an Acoustic Audio HD-Sub10 for $158. I do know that Energy subs are good, they don't go extremely low but they have a nice punch to them. For that price you could get a good reliable sub and if you don't like it you aren't out very much money. Kinda a win-win.

Here is the link to the Acoustic Audio forum and the Sub.

You could also pick up the same sub from The Speaker Company for 149.00 with free return shipping. The ASW-10 is the exact same sub except for some cosmetic changes and a different surround on the woofer.

Then personally I wouldn't call the the exact same sub...

I can't comment on your other options, but I do have the ESW-8 Subwoofer. I can only imagine that the 10" version can get a bit deeper than mine.

As for the ESW-8, I've been extremel happy with it since I got it about 3 months ago. It's a very accurate and tight sub. It may not get as low as some others but for my small room and setup it works beautifully. (not to mention the price was great at $99)

I'd definitely recommend the ESW-10, but definitely do your research and decide which is best for you. But for the record, I think they are some very nice subs, especially for the price.

Good Luck.

Maybe I should have added that I have torn both apart and they are the same. Same box, driver, port size/ length, and amp.

I don't think there is a better deal anywhere than this one.

Energy makes great, natural sounding speakers. With the ESW-10 you won't get phoney exaggerated bass. It won't deliver the lowest bass found on many BDs either. But it will deliver accurate bass down to the bass cut off frequency at 28 Hz. In a small room, it should do quite well.

I don't know what kind of reputation those guys have as a dealer. But if they are respectable, then that's one heck of a deal if you ask me.

It sure isn't the same Energy 10-inch MPP woofer with their patented Ribbed Elliptical Surround. I just visited the Speaker Company. I can see clearly in the photo that it isn't the ribbed elliptical surround used in the Energy ESW-10. In fact, the surround on the ASW -10 doesn't even appear to be ribbed. It's a different sub for sure.

If the OP is wants the ESW-10, then he should get a genuine Energy ESW-10, not an imitation like the ASW-10.

It is the same driver. Just a different surround. I pulled the drivers on both when I had them and everything is the same. Same magnet, basket, cone, the only difference is the surround. Cabinets are identical except the look of the port is different and the feet are different. The ports are the same length and diameter. The amps are the same amp. Look closely at the pictures. When I pulled the amp as well, it was identical.

It's widely known that TSC buys up older product lines and designs. Then changes the looks a bit and resells them. In fact many of their products are built on the same production lines as the bigger names on the market.
