Talking Wolverine Sequel Confirmed

This is good news! I love the ideas here, and now this makes the japanese bar ending make more sense.

Quote:
Slightly surprising (considering the shoulder-blade-bruising backlash against the film) but not really (It made near $90 million over the weekend) to hear that Hugh Jackman has greased the wheels on a "Wolverine" sequel (When has merit ever come before money in Hollywood!?).

Also not much of a shock, Variety has revealed the sequel will squarely focus on the samurai storyline originated in the comic series. Apparently (again, I haven't seen it yet) the Japanese locale was teased after the film's final credits.

Jackman told MTV that he's got a woody for the Japanese storyline. "I'm a big fan of the Japanese saga [as seen] in the comic book ... I love the idea of this anarchic character — the outsider — being in this world. I can see it aesthetically, too, full of honor and tradition and customs, and someone who's really anti all of that, trying to negotiate his way."

Jackman's Seed Productions will again produce.

Also on Jackman's radar : Fox's "Personal Security," in which he'll play tough Gotham police detective forced into bodyguard duty for a spoiled teen heiress who is receiving kidnapping threats; "Drive", in which he'd play a solitary man who drives race cars by day and getaway cars by night in Los Angeles, and the long-in-the-works "Carousel" with Jackman as Billy Bigelow and Anne Hathaway as Julie Jordan.

Maybe they can make this a trilogy, well I would actually only hope for that if the first one is any good.

I liked Wolverine, lol. I just think they kinda screwed up Deadpool and would have preferred much more Gambit.

As far as I'm concerned they can keep making (good) X-Men movies until I'm dead and buried!

Geez, Pondosinatra, angry much?

My thoughts too, there are plenty of comics for many many many sequels. Maybe he just wants all remakes and no sequels? Oh Pondosinatra, you've got sequels........'under your skin'

The Japanese storyline in the miniseries from the 80s is great. I was hoping they would use that for the first movie. But they didn't.

Glad to hear that story might be made into a movie.

The more recent Origin miniseries is good for flashbacks, but not a movie.

Anyone who doesn't know the original mininseries you should pick it up . It has been republished as a trade-paperback (TPB) a few times, titled Wolverine by Chris Claremont illustrated by Frank Miller. I'm sure it won't spoil the movie, usually comics just give an outline for plot, characters and setting. Movie makers tend to veer away from the original stories, except for 300 and a handful of others.

The only way this could work is if they ask frank miller to work with them on the film. They need to redeem themselves.

Actor to star in 'Wolverine' sequel, 'Carousel'

Hugh Jackman and Seed Productions partner John Palermo are ramping up
several projects for the "Wolverine" star.
Fox and Seed are in development on a sequel to "X-Men Origins: Wolverine,"
which topped the domestic box office over the weekend.

The Seed partners have begun planning the sequel, which they are squarely
focusing on the samurai storyline originated in the comic series, and whose
Japanese locale was teased after the film's final credits. A writer has yet
to be hired. Seed will produce.

Default Hey Fox Studios, let me give you some nifty ideas.

No need to be a stickler for details, right?
1) sequel should include Mann's chinese theatre & shoot in chinatown, it's all the same.
2) wolvie must eat sushi with his claws.
3) cameo appearance of cable, spider-man, ironman. why? to keep marvel readers happy even though it has nothing to do with the origins in comic books.
4) since it takes place in japan, must get jackie chan as a drunken kung fu master to play a top villain.

Looking foward to the sequel. Most of the people that have watched the first one describe it as "pretty good". Hopefully, the second will be even better.

A sequel would be fine; I'd go see it. Though not being a person who reads comics...that story line sounds like a remake of Cruise's "The Last Samurai"!

Miller won't be able to help them with this at the time when this was publish he was just and up and coming artist he hadn't even touch writing as yet.
They need to get Chris Claremont on this he was the writer of the series and he would do justice to his work.

I love that Jackman has found a vehicle that he truly enjoys and wants to put his heart in. Is it high oscar worthy drama?? Heck no, but it is good clean work and he can keep it steady and quality with that kind of passion.
I am in full support of anyone who makes a series of films because they really want to. I can't wait to see Wolverine XXXIIVVLBJDFE.....Part 3
