300 Follow-Up Announced
Frank Miller and Zach Snyder back onboard

Per IGN.com, June 30, 2008 - Writer Frank Miller and director Zack Snyder have been signed by Warner Bros. to develop a follow-up to the CGI-heavy historical actioner 300, we're hearing from Variety today. Word of the project first surfaced at Collider.com last week.

It's not clear whether the film will be a prequel, spin-off or sequel, although the conclusion of the original would seemingly rule out the latter option.

Apparently, Miller is currently writing the graphic novel on which the film will be based, with Snyder waiting to see how his effort turns out before definitely committing.

spokesman for Legendary Pictures, who will co-finance the film, said: "The vision of Frank Miller's universe that Zack Snyder brought to the screen in 300 is unlike anything ever seen before. We want to be certain that the story originates with Frank and be as compelling as the first."

Bizarrely, the announcement is the third greeks-set sword-and-sandals epic announced in the past few days, with Louis Leterrier's Clash of the Titans remake and Tarsem's The War of Gods all also rumbling into production.

So...if Miller is writting the novel now, that won't be done for for about 6-8 months. It will sell and be advertised and which point they will start preproduction. The leads will work out and train for film combat which will take 2 months. Then shooting will start and that will last about 4-5 months. It will last about 6-7 months in post production for all of the CG and editing. Then give it another 3-4 months for promotion. We will see this film in well over a year. Plus, how the eff are they making a sequel to this?!

I personally am just the messenger, so please dont get at me. I don't understand what they are going to do with this. Are they Going to Start off where the Movie ended when they were led by more soldiers to fight of the persians? Or are they going to do a prequel. Im most likely think it will be a sequel to where we left off last time with the ending. And possibly newer villains show up, i dunno.

I think a prequel would be far more interesting to watch then a sequel. then again I dont think either one is really necessary

I wasn't getting at you. I am just amazed that they could make a sequel to this. The only thing I could think of is if they do another classic epic battle with the same texture and feel of 300.

I wonder what they will do with this... I will have to pick up that novel as soon as it is out and take a look at it myself.

I hope he does a good job, and I hope they don't make a bad movie blinded by the success of 300.

Remember folks, the 300 wasn't the only story behind it. Google it up and you'll find the story before and after the 300

I only saw it once and really enjoyed it, but didn't they all die?

Historically, all 300 died, but they did have the aid of 1000 more (not sure how many lived). And the King was among the first to die, the rest of the battle was to prevent the Persians from taking his head.
In the comic/movie, yes all 300 died.

Any sequel would not involve the 300, but the rest of the Spartans. There is plenty of room for more.
