Default BD player instead of digital converter box?

Wondering if I can use my BDP-51FD as the digital converter/tuner box instead of buying one?

My BD player has an rca style coax cable jack that I would need to buy an adapter for (have typical screw-in coax) and, before I do that, just wondering if this would work?

I am feeding an over-the-air signal via antenna into my coax. I'd like to feed this into my BD player which would pipe everything out to the receiver via HDMI cable.

I'm assuming I can use the BD player to change channels, scan for channels etc?

No. The coax connector is an AUDIO output.
