Default Help: Lossless Decoding

Im new to this forum and to HT, however I am looking to create a humble HT and Im not sure of the ins-and-outs of this stuff.

I have noticed when posters recommend a A/V receiver they mention the receiever should have be able to decode lossless audio(i think thats how its termed) my question is when researching different A/V recs what should I look for in reading the specs of the product that will alert me that model will decode lossless audio?

Thanks for your powerful knowledge and willingness to share

Default Lossless audio

Look for receivers with Dolby True HD and DTS Master Audio logo. These receivers will decode the lossless audio signals. Hope this answer helps!

Yes, what kind of player is it? Many newer players can do the decoding internally now.....

This is quickly becoming a moot point now IMO. With most brands, you have to get a pretty low end model now-a-days in order to get one that can't decode lossless audio. If you're spending ~$600 or more, then it's a pretty safe bet the receiver can decode lossless audio, but as kailashu pointed out above, just look for these logos on the box or on the receiver itself.
