Default 1982 Theatrical Edition of E.T.: Extra Terrestrial

I haven't seen the new DVD copy of E.T. and I don't plan to (walkie-talkies in place of guns I can take, the new CG E.T. I cannot), what I want is a high-def version of this film on Blu to please the ORIGINAL fans of the film.

Everything else was cool about the new version but yeah it upset me that they CGI'd out the guns for walkies. I thought that was ridiculous.

Well, I don't really care what they replaced.
I agree that big guns are a bit over-the-top to stop a group of biking kids.
However, I also didn't really like the CG E.T., it's too cartoon-like.
I know Spielberg wasn't happy with the old version, which is why he did it.
But... I don't know, it's as if it's too "early 2000's" you know.
The 'Jurassic Park'-CG-effects were a lot better, that's probably because it's earlier.
It's just... yeah, they should have used a studio like the one for 'Hulk'.
That would have looked tight and realistic as heck.
NOT 'Incredible Hulk', which has the same problem in CGI as E.T. has.
The past just repeats itself as new technologies are introduced.

ANYWAY, what they SHOULD do is use BD-features to put both versions on there.
That's what I expected with the 2002-version, with like two DVDs or something.
But with BD, you could probably just like "turn it on and off".
They could just transfer both version in the spots they changed something.

Which would be just awesome and perfect for everyone.
You can watch both, you can just watch the one you only like.
People can compare it and see differences.
Initially I thought of it as "on and off" through the menus.
But maybe you could also do it more on-the-fly somehow.

I'd love to add ET to the collection. I'm also a fan of the original, unaltered edition. I think Spielberg will give ET the same treatment as CEOT3K got. Well, one can only hope anyway.

What exactly do you mean by that treatment?
Like the multiple cuts and a lot of extras?
