So I finally experienced a RPX showing. It was okay. All though the seats were a bit uncomfortable and everytime you moves around the seats would squeak and sounds like you farted. lol. The picture and sound were good I suppose. But I don't know how often I pay to see a movie in it. Especially at $14 for a matinee. But I saw Mockingjay Part 1 in it and used one of those BBY movie cashes so it only cost me $1 to see it.

The seats are like 2-3 months old. Should be worn in by now already.

Wow, some 15/70 theaters (Bob Bullock in Austin, Henry Ford in Dearborn) are going to keep showing Interstellar right through the end of December.

Well, it'll be down to one showing per day in Dearborn and two showings per day in Austin. A lot of museum IMAX theaters show The Polar Express this time of the year, too.

Might check out Exodus at a Dolby Cinema this Friday, but the reviews for the film are making me reconsider the 3 hour to/back trip. For anyone that has seen it, is it worth seeing it for the visuals on a premium screen, or should I stay closer to home and watch it in regular 3D?

I went to see Interstellar in IMAX at Dearborn the week it came out and they made a point of saying that it was going to be there through January.

The new Hollywood movies showing up at the Henry Ford Dearborn have been slowly falling off, which is quite the bummer since I love their presentation. (Seats leave a little to be desired though.)

Indianapolis State Museum is showing Interstellar at least through this Sunday.

At the Loews Lincoln Square in NYC, Interstellar, which is showing in 15/70 IMAX leaves after today. The Hobbit movie comes in in digital IMAX 3D starting tonight - 2 shows tonight and a regular schedule of four shows a day starting tomorrow. Surprised that's not happening on almost every IMAX equipped screen.

I think what's happening is that IMAX simply doesn't have enough laser projectors to use in Giant IMAX auditoriums. Most of these are built next to or inside museums. Since they already spent the money striking film prints for Interstellar, they might as well use them for a little longer.

Here's some information about Austin's Bob Bullock Imax Theater adding a digital projector.

http://www.thestoryoftexas.com/visit/see-films/imax

Edit: Just found out that they're installing dual 2K projectors. The 4K laser projectors are still on a very slow roll-out.

So, someone has edited Wikipedia to list the three LOTR movies as getting 3D conversions for IMAX in 2016 and 2017.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_IMAX_DMR_films

LOTR1 = 04/08/2016
LOTR2 = 09/16/2016
LOTR3 = 04/07/2017

Sad that they're removing the 70mm film projector.

There are fewer than five IMAX venues with the new laser projectors.
