I'm assuming we're talking either the 1.90:1 or 2.00:1 shots? Since Age of Extinction doesn't have any 1.78:1 shots. It would fall under the IMAX digital criteria, unless we're talking material not filmed with the Phantom system.

sorry the 2.00 shots - three cameras with different aspect ratios were used in the filming, the third aspect ratio was only scene in the IMAX engagements. I didn't think the 2.00 scenes were shot with the IMAX camera

Also, Lucy has some native IMAX footage. However based on what I can find about the film, sounds like it might've still kept a constant scope AR, and quite possibly had less IMAX footage than Force Awakens given how little the IMAX version was pushed (in America, think it just got a few IMAX theaters and was mostly for overseas)

holy cannoli !! - the IMAX-laser version of 'Captain America: Civil War' wiped the floor and put the Dolby Cinema to shame. The Atmos mix was highly inconsistent here though, all the problems I heard, weren't evident. Add the 3D, the 1.90 IMAX shot scene - this was night and day.

Am i the only one who felt that civil war was incredibly un-cinematic? It was my worst digital imax experience so far.

I just noticed over on AMC's 'Prime / Dolby Cinema' theater list that a proper intown Washington DC screen is getting the change over (hoozah!!) - now let's hope they don't f**k it up as they did to the auditorium over at Tysons.

I saw Alice in IMAX 3D tonight. And yeah, the Kips Bay location clearly is using a screen wider than 1.9 as I thought, and this flat film was presented cropped to fill the screen (bits of the subtitles used in one scene and credits were off the screen, and there were a number of shots were you could tell the composition was off). Still the visuals were pretty good and I really liked the IMAX sound mix (too bad the movie itself was mostly a misfire).
Am seeing Apocalypse on Saturday and would've liked to have checked it out in Regal RPX to get the Atmos mix along with a 60 foot screen, but my friend requested 4dx instead (Days of Future Past was actually the first title I saw in Atmos and wasn't that impressed with the mix there, so maybe it is like some other superhero movies which seem to have underwhelming Atmos mixes). |

for anyone who has been to the Dolby Cinema at AMC Tysons, is the screen scope or flat? I'm going to to go see X-Men here on Wednesday and it's my first experience with Dolby Cinema, just wondering if the film will fill up the whole screen or be letterboxed? Thanks!
