If anyone lives in northern New Jersey and really wants Blade Runner 4K, the Best Buy at Newport had three last week.

It's crazy how no one can seem to find this. I feel like every movie store I walk into has at least one copy.

It's not the amount of grain, more the quality of it that bothers me. I guess this must be the result of sharpening/compression, even with the sharpening and resolution settings on my display turned off there's still something slightly artificial about the image. Obviously it is a digital medium so I guess that should be expected, but transfers like Goodfellas and Ghostbusters manage to look so stunningly organic despite this.

Anywho I probably don't know what I'm talking about, it's still basically a 9/10 looking transfer.

No, your description makes perfect sense. I haven't seen this disc but I know the difference between a natural looking film-like transfer and something that's been mucked with. Trust your eyes. It may not (hopefully not) affect your enjoyment of the movie, but after a time you get an eye for such things.

I guess I'm still confused. I'm sure this has been answered so many times before, but I don't want to dig through several pages of posts. Anyways, I managed to snag a copy of the 4K Blade Runner at Best Buy last week. It came with a disc containing additional cuts of the movie (which wasn't advertised). It's a nice surprise, no doubt, but was this an error of some kind?

Truth is, Warner has been really weird with their 4K re-releases. This same thing happened with Unforgiven and several other titles. They'll eventually pop up at retailers if you wait long enough. If you want it an any retailers that offer in-stock alerts, do that.

Warner was supposed to include the "Enhancement Archive" disc but instead included the "US/International/Directors Cut" disc.

You have:
1) Blade Runner: The Final Cut 4K UHD Disc
2) Disc 1: The Final Cut on HD Blu-ray Disc
3) Disc 2: Dangerous Days: The Making of Blade Runner DVD Disc
4) Disc 3: US/International/Directors Cut HD Blu-ray Disc

You need to: email WB and ask them for the enhancement archive disc (more details here). They will send it to you, giving you:

5) Disc 4: Enhancement Archive DVD Disc

This will give you a 5-disc set. The only content you'll be missing is the Workprint disc and the documentary titled "All Our Variant Futures: From Workprint to Final Cuts". That disc is only available in discontinued sets or disc 3 in this set if you can get it. The documentary is available on Youtube if you search for it.

I ordered this from BarnesandNoble.com for $32. I got the 4K disc, the Final Cut Blu-Ray disc, the dvd disc 2 ( Dangerous Days), and the DVD disc 4 (Enhancement Archive). It was a stacked case. So I took the 4K disc and put it in the 30th Anniversary digibook with the 30th anniversay discs 2 and 3 blurays. Much better

Still can't believe they stuck those dvds in this release and didn't even bother to change the label on the disc. Lazy as ****.

That is the set the US one should have been. Everything on 4 Blu-ray discs and no DVD nonsense.

I gave up trying to find this at a retailer for less than $60 and just ordered from the WBStore. Still ended up costing me $45.

Hard to spot for most, but me being me I clocked it straight away. I previously called it one of the most fragile UHD encodes I've yet seen - this is including ID4 and ST '09 - and I stand by every word.
I'm torn on how to reply to this. Like on one hand it's impressive you can spot that stuff in normal viewing motion. I just wanna be like "wow it's impressive you see that in normal motion, glad I don't."

On the other hand though, are we sure it's your magic eyes rather than a natural difference in HDR presentation across displays and settings? I know you had some issues when converting to SDR that went away in HDR, as did I. Every disc has compression it hides, issues that can become more visible with the right change to settings. I just wonder if that can be the case here. When I went frame-by-frame to see what you're seeing it's buried in shadow, the grain in the brighter section looks perfectly resolved. Reminds me of hiding things in shadow on normal BD.

Best idea ever. Snug fit, not too tight.
Ultimate Ultimate Collector's Edition, anyone?

Maybe I should do that also. I own the old Hd-Dvd case, the 5 disc Blu-Ray version and soon the Uk 4k Special Edition.

Starting to feel lucky that I was able to buy this movie at Best Buy for $29 + tax.

My phone said they had it, so I bought it thru the website and drove over ASAP.

I thought the price was OK at the time, but not great (maybe it was).

I just wish this set had everything, so I could sell my old 5-disc BD set.

Really? I think the colors look pretty weak compared to the Final Cut. It's also a bit unnatural. I even prefer the look of the Workprint. Look how videoish the archival cuts transfer looks in comparison:
