That set is 4 Blu-rays and is the most complete collection of Blade Runner.

But...
https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Blade...lu-ray/186791/
Lists it as: Four-disc set (1 BD-66, 2 BD-25, 1 DVD)

And...
https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Blade...Blu-ray/53111/
Lists the previous UK CE set as: Three-disc set (3 BD-50)

So it looks to me, that putting aside the 4K BD-66 disc, the difference between the CE and the new SE is the downgrade of x2 BD-50's to BD-25's and x1 BD-50 to a DVD.

And while I'm aware Dangerous Days has only ever been SD on both BD and DVD, I would prefer to have the CE picture gallery in HD.

This isn't me just being pedantic. I own the standard Final Cut Blu Ray and 5 disc DVD set, but I've been holding off buying anything else until there was a definitive set out there. But now it looks like I'm going to have to pay out for the over priced CE (really not fussed about the Spinner model) and then pick up the 4K set separately

Only been skimming the forum this week so didn't see you mention that large of a problem. I certainly didn't see anything like that. I believe you mentioned the Rachel testing scene and the photo examining scene? I'll look at them later tonight.

Because bluray.com lists this as: Four-disc set (1 BD-66, 2 BD-25, 1 DVD)
Whereas the UK 30th set is listed as: Three-disc set (3 BD-50)

So, putting aside the 4K disc, would the 3 BD-50 30th anniversary set not be the better option?

Also, has anyone confirmed that the 4K Four-disc set does indeed have 2 BD-25, 1 DVD? Would the BD-25's not be a downgrade from the previous BD-50's?

Once again - apologies if this has already been discussed, I honestly am lacking the time to go through the whole thread...
Not to sound like a dick, but I physically own this 4K SE set. I'm not making it up, and those blu-ray.com specs are completely wrong. A mod even PM'd me to ask what was in the set because people keep trying to correct it and I sent him the list of specs, assuming that the database would be amended but I'll just have to do it myself.

The 4K SE set that you link to in your post - I also got mine from amazon - contains the following:

Final Cut 4K BD66

Final Cut 1080p BD50

Archival versions BD25

Workprint + extras BD50

Again: I own it. Not making it up.

I wouldn't really see the point, and since it would create additional efforts, would be surprised if creating a different 5.1 mix for the DD stream was really an industry practice. But I don't have any knowledge in that regard, never having asked myself the question.
I meant that it's physically separate and isn't part of the in-player TrueHD fold-down process per se, so depending on your gear you could be sent the DD 5.1 rather than the lossless DTHD 2.0 mixdown. It should still have been derived from the main mix - and has been, in the case of the legacy DD 5.1 on the Blade Runner 4K - but it doesn't always have to be, e.g. the release of Coppola's Dracula with Atmos included the theatrical 5.1 mix as a user-selectable DD 5.1 track instead of it being the usual hidden embed. It would've been nice if Blade Runner had received the same courtesy, but whaddayagonna do?

[EDIT:] I may have missed your point. Are you saying that the workprint version released on disk in 2007 was scanned from a 35mm dupe of the original 70mm workprint?
That is how I understood it.

There are two UK releases: a straightforward 2-disc Final Cut 4K + BD pack and a 4-disc Special Edition in a digipak slipbox type thingy with the art book from the 30th anniversary edition included. The hubs are really finicky to get discs in and out of though, so I've transplanted the discs into the previous 5-disc edition case.

Pics (stolen from ebay) of the UK 4-disc set are below:

You probably have a hairline scratch on the disc because Warner Bros. are idiots and stacked discs.

I hope you guys don’t mind me asking, but are the 35th anniversary Blu-ray discs the same as the 30th anniversary?

Watched this, thought it looked great. Maybe not demo worthy or OMG but it looked really good. I'm not an expert on the movie, watched it on DVD back in college and at least part of it on BD a while ago. I did think the mix was a little too loud on my dinky little system, with dialogue mixed too low and music/effects too high, but not to any devastating extent.

Was impressed with the resolution increase and the HDR on this one. Some really blinding lights in this one. Took a pic of the Asian lady billboard shot that's now for some reason become the ubiquitous image of this movie lol:

Didn't really vibe with the movie this time though. I always liked but never loved Blade Runner, and I had the same reaction this time, albeit leaning a bit more towards antipathy than something positive. I know the movie being cold and distant is intentional, but I never really sink into the movie as a result. I just don't think there's enough story here for a two-hour movie, let alone Ridley Scott apparently needing four or five tries to get "right." Not hating on it; it's still a good, solid, interesting movie. But I remain firmly in the "good but not great" camp on Blade Runner. Oh well. Still hyped af for the sequel.

It's a flawed film, absolutely. Cool to look at, however the writers were correct in admitting that they needed more time to hammer out the script, but the studio and Ridley were breathing down their necks to get anything on film they could no matter how incomplete it was.

All I can hope for is that the sequel, many years in the making, corrects some of these flaws. I'm not holding my breath, but they do have a IMHO more consistently solid director at the helm this time around.

Hmm. I'm also not exactly a fan of the hubs, but other than that it's really easy to get the discs out imo. You just have to press "push" where it says "push". Maybe you just missed that? (Which I doubt though, since I guess there's no way to get the discs out otherwise.)

I'd be very interested in seeing a photo if you can capture one.
I'm currently wary of catalog releases due to the way the HDR distractingly enhances the grain in certain sequences of Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon (while positively enhancing other scenes). I'm wondering if this is to be expected with most UHD releases of older films.

I only have two UHD discs so far--Crouching Tiger and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2--and since I can't rent them from Netflix DVD I don't yet have enough experience with 4k UHD to know what to expect.
