The 4K & Blu-ray discs are literally the same ones as we've got (Warners one-size-fits-all), they'll default to English language options. Dunno about the DVD.

DVD? Don't you mean drink coaster?

But seriously if you're buying a 4K combo back with Blu-ray bonus features, there is absolutely no reason to include or want the feature film on DVD unless it's to clear a warehouse.

It's an odd choice to include a DVD in the French release, but then you only have to look at the cluster**** of the US version to see that it could've been a lot worse. The UK 4K SE is the best of all worlds BUT if peoples wanna save a few $ and don't care about the rogue DVD then the French edition is a very tempting alternative because you still get Final Cut 4K, Archival editions BD and the Workprint + extras BD. All five cuts (well, five and a half including The Condensed Cut ) are represented in the best quality available for each respective version.

Or maybe DVD players outnumber humans in France and the French collection is a stepping stone to UHD. That is a possibility.

Bit of a weird stepping stone though, to just have one disc be a DVD and the rest as 4K/BD. The French Unforgiven set leant a bit more towards that hypothesis because it had 2x DVD (movie/extras) plus the remastered BD and the 4K, but I guess if you were to do that with Blade Runner the damn thing would be like a 9-disc set or something.

It does sound like a bit of tech favoritism from where I stand. But like you, I’m not mad at all. In the end, I honestly wish you were having the same playback experience the bulk of us are having. This is too important of a movie not to be.
Another thing involved beyond his set, his settings and his eyes are language choices. Our lovely Geoff loves to say stuff looks like shit in colorful ways, and when everyone and their mother says a disc looks like an A+ amazing experience and Geoff says "this is a total botch job" it can cause a bit more stirring of the debate pot than might otherwise arise.

That stuff is what makes forums fun though!

Great, so I'll just have to swap the Final Cut DVD for the Final Cut Blu-ray. Nice!

Some folks have taken to referring to the 45 minutes of deleted/alternate scenes as The Condensed Cut.

Any screenshot comparison between the BD and the 4K UHD of the Final Cut online?

Default Blade Runner (1982) 4K UHD

I was able to finally find a copy of this at FYE in my local mall. Marked at $44.95, on sale for $39.95
Signed up for a free trial of their membership and also had a coupon for $5 off which brought the price down to $30 plus tax.
They only had the one copy of the 4K version but if you're still looking for it try your local FYE

This is my first UHD disc. So newbie question... My Oppo UDP-203 says Dolby TrueHD7.1 and my AVR says Atmos/TrueHD. I assume it is Atmos although Oppo says just TrueHD?

The player will only ever show the TrueHD part of the signal, the Atmos metadata is carried along to the AVR where it is decoded.

Can't really do reliable shots of UHDs yet but some posted pics off a screen you can see here: https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...postcount=2487

Do you know exactly what's on the French extras BD? Is it the same as the British one?

Guess I'm going to have to wait until they release it as a single 4K disc or until the set drops below $20. I'm not paying for blu rays I already own.

OMG, watched the UHD tonight and it is a thing of beauty.

Also FYI this movie really grows on you the older and more jaded you become.

Curious if I should bother looking for the disc when iTunes new pricing structure means they are selling the streaming 4K version at $15. Apple has done a helluva deed with their pricing shakeup. Vudu looks nuts selling the same movie at $30.

I’m so tired of discs but I love this movie. The diminishing returns make me think ill be happier with a streaming copy, but thanks to Movies Anywhere I could possibly just buy this disc and have both disc and stream. What to do...

I’m the owner of the French disc, not Geoff, but yes, it should be absolutely identical. Is there something specific you’d like me to check for?
