What I'd give for just one of those options on the Blade Runner UHD. Christ, even BoRhap has a lossless 2.0 mix, for whatever reasons.
Agree that they should include the original audio track. I don't mind a revisionist audio mix as long as it is done right (immersive experience as well say) and it doesn't compromise the bit rates. In case of BR, it worked. Note that I don't remember how the original mix sounded. I was 4 years ago when this was released lol.

You can't have been 4 when the Final Cut was released, the 2007 audio mix for which is what's being discussed here.

Lol. I was born in 1978 and was referring to film release year 1982.

People make the mistake of thinking a non-audiophile doesn't care about ANYTHING with the sound, and that's not true. I say I am not an audiophile because I don't care about surround, khz, or even bitrate really. However that doesn't mean I don't notice replacement sounds like the opening flames here or the gun in Terminator. That doesn't mean I don't notice when a track is leached of all dynamic range like Black Panther.

At last we agree, and now we won't.
The Atmos mix is garbage and ruins the audio mix totally

What are you listening to the Atmos mix with ? Did you have the seating positioned calibrated ? BR is one of the best Atmos mixes in existence.

It's not odd at all. As others have stated, the "Final Cut" is a distinct alternate cut of the film, and the 5.1 created in 2007 is the "original" audio for that version.

It's like me complaining about PQ and black levels while watching on a low end edge lit 3 zone $150 Vizio.

Yes it's my equipment...... Sure

It fundamentally ruins the mixing in the original mix and the effects are all over the place.
It's a mess plan and simple, does not mean you cannot like it

Oh for Christ's sake. IT'S NOT ABOUT THE 'QUALITY' OF THE MIX OR HOW FCUKING AMAZING IT SOUNDS WHEN BLARING OUT OF 87 SPEAKERS. IT'S ABOUT HOW THE AUDIO HAS BEEN SUBSTANTIALLY ALTERED FROM WHAT IT WAS BEFORE AND YOU DON'T NEED STUDIO-GRADE EQUIPMENT TO BE ABLE TO DISCERN THAT.

If people wonder why I can be such a douche, this is why: just a total lack of comprehension despite it having been explained over and over and over.

Thanks for allowing me to enjoy it but the Atmos mix is stellar ; some of if not the best use of the format that exists. You may not like it but if it is one of the best Atmos mixes and this certainly is the general concensus then saying it's poor for Atmos sounds like sour grapes. To say it is bad 5.1 or is poor compared to the original theatrical audio or something is at least open to debate.

Describe your Atmos set up and gear.

Is there any point in listening to the Atmos soundtrack if I’ve still only got a 5.1 DTS HD MA/Dolby true set up!

Based on the opinions here I'd say no.

Unless you speak another language then the only English track on the disc IS the Atmos track or downmixes/derivatives thereof (even the hidden DD 5.1 embed is a downmix of the new mix). That's what slays me: all the other foreign 5.1 tracks on the UHD are using the FC 5.1 mix! Maybe I should just watch it in Italian, all my problems would be solved

Assuming you're not intimately familiar with the movie as many of us here indeed are (I've been watching it fairly regularly for the past 27 years, myself), it does sound "amazing".

But, to some of us who know the movie like the backs of our hands, it is far too revisionist. I knew I was in for a bumpy ride the moment
[Show spoiler]Leon's gunshot
at the beginning sounded like something out of a Michael Bay movie. It only got worse from there...

It's a very full and very fun mix, no arguments there, but it's not the Blade Runner I grew up loving and pouring over
