Gfd asked yesterday if Blade Runner was really worth getting in 4K. My response was short, and, let's say, to the point.

But yes completely agreed. Whatever the package is, even if I ultimately just get the standalone release, the 4K is definitely the raison d'être.

Thanks for the info, guys.

I cancelled my 4K Target pre-order and ordered the 4K Special Edition through Zavvi, in which the details are very cut and dry. No DVD mentioned at all.

I don't even own Blade Runner on blu-ray, so this sounds like the most ideal release.

TBF, RAH says that about almost every UHD release.

Isn't he watching them on a projector too? Or did he recently get a TV?

Yes, he's a much better film restorer than a video reviewer.

I don't know him, he may be a nice guy.

Posting the review again didn't contribute either...

I looked this up in the Best Buy system today to see how many my store was getting and it's only 5 copies for day one. Some smaller stores seem to be only getting 2 like Unforgiven.

And I'm not sure I disagree with him saying that. Almost every UHD release I own is the best version ever released.

Another review. I have no idea what happened with the number scoring, but it's obviously a mistake if you read the text of the review (an absolutely reference video presentation is not a 3.5/5): http://moviemansguide.com/main/2017/...laderunner-4k/

I know Blade Runner is a pretty popular film in enthusiast circles but I don't think it's that odd Best Buy wouldn't treat it like some new release blockbuster. Five for a busier store and two for a smaller store makes sense to me, roughly. Glad to know they're carrying it at all, might cancel my Amazon order and get it there.

It's one of the greatest films of all time, and maybe THE most visually impressive film of all time. Absolutely nothing would make me miss out on seeing this in 4K HDR on day one.
Very much this...
