The only thing holding it up is money and a green-light by Kathleen Kennedy.
Yep, it really is something of a myth that Star Wars is somehow "lost" forever. They've got prints, intermediate elements, IB Tech prints, even YCM seps struck from the negative at the time of release, plus whatever negative trims they've vaulted from the SE recut. (Yes, the negative really WAS reconformed to the special edition version. They had to dissassemble it for the different chemical baths used to treat the different stocks and they ended up replacing several shots on CRI that had badly faded anyway, so they then went the whole hog and cut the new scenes into it.)

Was the original version of Star Wars "lost" with the tech that they had 20 years ago once Lucas started recutting the o-neg? Yes. Is the original version of Star Wars "lost" with the digital tech that we have available today? Not for a ****ing second.

WB messed this up royally, for everybody but the people who only care about having The Final Cut in 4k.
I think that's an extremely small number of people and with Dangerous Days and the commentaries they probably have everything they care about anyway.

When Reagan said "It's morning again in America..." in 1980, who could pass that up? The issue was, and my point, when the country found itself in a deep recession for 1981/82, doubt began to creep into the psyche of the country. After all, if Reagan couldn't save America, who could?

Instead of the vision of the future provided by Lucas and Spielberg, Scott comes along and says...

"Welcome to LA, 2019!"
Thanks for the clarification.

Worth noting Reagan's economy eventually boomed right after the period he's discussing. The far-left/right extremists always overplay their hand and make it harder to have real criticisms discussed. Don't get me started on how treating Reagan and the Bushes like fascists resulting in that word having no meaning now that there's actual early signs of it creeping in. These kinds of passionate responses do lead to some great art and entertainment though, both then and now.

Agree with your overall point, but not that that kind of rhetoric is limited to the far-left/right extremists. I see the regular old centre-right and centre-left use such hyperbole about each other all the time, it's a common tactic in debates to play up their differences and make themselves appear the better alternative. Acting like the opposition will turn the country (whatever their country is) into Hitler's Germany or Stalin's Russia if they get the power.

And yeah, I think that careless attitude towards loaded terms over the decades has probably been a bit damaging, having had something of a cry wolf effect.

Anyone else's Amazon pre-order just slip two days? It's not giving me release date delivery anymore and I am FUMING - literally every 4K disc I've ordered from Amazon has missed their delivery guarantee this year, and I'm actually moving states on Friday for a new job. This was supposed to be a last fun event before we move, so I guess I'm gonna have to pick up at Best Buy if I want it on release date.

UPDATE: Just got on a chat to explain my situation. They told me they couldn't get it to me on time from my local distro center, so instead they're shipping it from a different region and overnighting it so it gets here by Tuesday.

So there's hope for non-review copies lol

Hopefully this is something that at least all copies in the first batch of pressings get.

Definitely more detail in the foreground shadows in Deckard's jacket when he first meets Rachel in comparison to the blu-ray. Far less of an illusion there of black crush than there was before. Excellent.

Obviously, there's no point in trying to capture the color, but here ya go...yeah, there's absolutely no going back to the blu after seeing this disc. Like, ever.

But the way, it DID come with a slipcover.

I said a while back I was going to hold out for the 4-disc version as I'd never watched my Dangerous Days disc in the '07 5-disc US set.
It being a region 1 DVD disc I therefore didn't think I could ever play it.

Imagine my surprise when I tried it on my Panasonic UHD UB700 and it played?!
I thought the player was meant to be region locked to Region 2 in the U.K. for regular bluray and DVD?

Warner Bros. went through a period when they didn't lock their DVDs.

Got my copy from Bullmoose today, also! Will watch it tonight. Did not expect early delivery like this and know this is a rare exception, but a very nice surprise. First time purchase from Bullmoose, but not my last with service like this! They have earned my support. I'll order there before I order from Best Buy again.

Same here, I'm very pleasantly surprised with them. Got a better price for this, E.T., and Close Encounters (as a whole) than I could have gotten with either Amazon or going to B&M stores. No tax was a huge plus over Amazon. Early shipping was icing on the cake. Arrived with no damage, too.

They probably shipped a little earlier to counter the holiday on Monday but it ended up getting to you early anyway. Congrats, I am jealous. At least my Amazon order still says Tuesday arrival and "shipping soon."
