Oh my. That style of packaging is horrible. I didn't think we'd be seeing cardboard sleeves at this stage of the 4K game but, then again, I probably should have expected it all along. Sighs.

I know it says these were uploaded 7/5 but are those really "new?"

I guess so, perhaps. However, I like to see a bit of variety in my collections. I tend to keep them in good condition so I never see wear and tear but I get why a lot of people hate them.

HAVE TO SAY, even though I like the look, the discs seem to easily come out from the top when I pick it up or open it. Kind of shitty. (Not as bad as the FOX SEARCHLIGHT 20th Anniversary Collection that snapped and broke when I opened it's first page, but still annoying.)

Yeah, really nice to look at but not a fan of envelope disc slots. Hopefully not too tight, which is what can scratch them in the post with everything wiggling around.

So, I've viewed the first 20 minutes of them, and I'm thinking now that the Blu-ray discs are in fact older. The colours we're dark and weren't fleshed out but the UHD has an enormous uptick in detail and colour management.

The first Mummy looks amazing. I'm really happy with the way it looks. Does not look undercooked as expected from Universal.

Guys, the HDR is really good. The UHD will impress most, if not all, of you.

Better late than never... The 4K looks extremely close to this, colour-wise. There isn't much of a difference.

Glad to see that another has tested the first movie and agrees that it looks terrific.

Going to run by Best Buy tomorrow and pick it up. I can't wait to finally own these films, especially The Mummy, let alone watch them. Somehow I skipped out on the Blu-rays, yet had the first two on DVD. All I can say for the UHD packaging is that it looks nice, but I am not a fan of how they discs are held.

This is why I never bought the originals, the DNR is atrocious. Disappointment to hear these continue that.

Update: the only shots that are really bad that I've noticed is ones after the "swipe" transition. It looks like DVD afterwards lol

Never in any doubt.

Old-school wipes, fades and dissolves are what they are, this was still in the pre-DI era so certain transition effects were still done optically. In some ways that speaks to the quality of the supposed remaster, as the more these things stand out then the better the first generation material usually is.

Yeah, I somehow love it, makes me feel all nostalgic. It makes the transfer shine, DEFINITELY.

Man, I don't normally say this, but props to Universal Home Entertainment. You did good, UHE. You did good.

Are the relgular BDs that are included in this set new transfers or just the same old discs repackaged?

Part of the reason the first movie is so awesome is because of how cheesy the effects are, even something like a wipe standing out kinda adds to the charm. Can't wait to take a look at this thing for myself, very encouraging to hear that Universal seems to have done right by these. Why they couldn't be bothered for Bourne, I dunno....

Not too bad -- looks like it's only $40 now at bestbuy, not $45

Someone said they have new copyright dates on them, which is interesting, but still it sounds like the same old transfers at any rate. Can't be 100% sure until more people see them I suppose.

Yes. That's what I wanted to know.

Some screenshots from the 4K Blu-ray would be VERY MUCH welcome!
