Interestingly, the normal Blu-Ray "ultimate" collection version also includes The Scorpion King. Strange the 4K version of the set doesn't...

I hope the price goes down for this. Otherwise, not interested in upgrading.

I >LOVE< the first two movies.

But I'd need to see some reports of the PQ before I snap these up. I made myself promise not to rebuy too many of my old Blus.

I've already broken it 4 times.

"Ultimate" trilogy.

Does this mean the UHD transfers will be "ultimate" PQ wise speaking? Otherwise what's the use of calling it the ultimate trilogy?

Fingers crossed...

Will only double dip if they are Dolby Vision. Universal said they were putting out Dolby Vision discs this year.

I only want the first once so if no individual release in the UK or US I will import it from Amazon Italy.

I wonder if these will contain all the extras from the blurays. The Mummy: TOTDE had a separate dvd with all the extras.

They're still pretty fun popcorn fare, but not favorites that I'd need to rush out and buy for over twenty five bucks each. A shame they weren't Sony property so they could have possibly gotten new mastered in 4k blu releases as well for a cheaper alternative.

Def waiting to see how the PQ is on this set, as someone else mentioned I am trying to not buy movies I already have on Blu ray if the 4k disc is not much better.

I know what you mean. I'm treating most UHD releases as 'superbit blu rays' and have only bought a couple so far since I don't have a setup for it. I'd imagine when 4k projectors hit <$1k it'll be a lot more fun and a more obvious upgrade than what I have on the current displays.

I have the HDDVD version but will get the 4k one day one. I'll only get the first one if they release separately. Didn't care for the other 2.

Just watched the HD-DVD master tonight thanks to a great forum member. Man a lot of those CGI shots are going to look nasty in 4k, whether they remaster it or not. Soft as a baby pillow. Real film footage doesn't look too bad without the sharpening though, but obviously still really needs a remaster to shine.

Even the first one? I feel like the CGI in that one is curiously better than Returns'.

It's just really soft and stands out a lot against the real film. The design quality and detail are okay, it just looks really low-res. If they ever remaster the film itself it will stand out even more I bet. The sharpening on the BD might alleviate this a bit, but I watched the HD-DVD master.

Will this be an 8 disc set with 4 Blurays & 4 UHD 4K Blurays or is the Scorpion King not a part of the UHD 4K set?

Target.com is showing 2 different UHD 4K sets available for pre-order. Wonder what the difference is between them?
