Lol I really did enjoy the reboot, I only saw it once and remember liking it.

I'd really be interested to see it in 4k.

I'll have to track down a steelbook I think and get the original trilogy in steelbook too

I thought the reboot was very visually cool looking, and some of the "buddy comedy" sections were fun. As a whole though is it any great shakes? Nah.

That's exactly what I hated about it.

Just got my trilogy from Best Buy and yikes, all the discs are scratched. I dunno if they were already like that or if I managed to scratch them while sliding out of the packaging. Even the stacked Ultimate Collection Blu-ray steelbook didn't scratch like this. Definitely getting a repackage.

Curious for anyone who repackaged the trilogy, what case did you use? I've been trying to find 6-disc or even 3-disc black 4K Blu-ray cases but the only retailer I've seen selling them was Casetopia and there's been too many horror stories of them of late.

I put mine in the BD Trilogy steelbook (along with The Scorpion King UHD). It's recently been restocked for around $20 at Best Buy.

Got my Amazon copy of The Mummy '99 from the mail room today. One of the case locks is broken. I'm not gonna exchange it, but I too am thinking of ordering some cases from Casetopia. There seems to be no good alternative.

Made me a little more excited for tonight. I've been thinking this for years. That The Mummy is one of the last cinematic pulp adventures.

Thanks for sharing that video. Def gave it a thumbs up. It really is a masterpiece and highly underrated given it is a modern-day (now classic) Indiana Jones spinoff but with Mummies.

I saw it multiple times in the theater and had great memories with friends going to see it. I actually just got it today on LaserDisc from Japan. Of course it doesn't look anything close to the 4k version, but it was on my list and I love the artwork as LDs are like mini movie posters.

I received 3 sets in a row where at least ONE disc in the set was unplayable due to the scratches. This is insane. I''m only buying the individual releases as this set's packaging is garbage.

Got my set in today and was able to get the disc's out without any major scratches. Just light marks. Needless to say I will be watching these this weekend to see if I need to return then or not.

I'm curious to what extent some of your guy's sets had marks or scratches and still played?

The first Mummy is a fantastic movie and a great Universal Studio's ride.

Never a huge fan of mummy returns, i found myself really enjoying it's reincarnation in 4k.

Loads of eye candy even if the video is wildly inconsistent.

Just in case anyone was curious the HD DVDs of the first two films still offer the best PQ compared to the BDs. The UHDs are indicative of what the BDs could have been.

Eh. They're still tired-ass old transfers on HD DVD - hell, the EE was front and centre when these were new transfers in back in the day, never mind now - it's just that the BDs manage to look even worse. (Ah, Universal: those were the days.) And the UHDs are legitimately good insofar as UHD is concerned, they look amazing next to the shite BDs to be sure but anyone just blithely brushing off how good Mummy '99 looks on UHD because of that deserves a smack. Like this:

[edit]:not saying you're necessarily deserving of this treatment Goofnut, but other people have expressed such views and it makes me do a sad

Oh, I know Geoff. The folks with the mindset cause my mind significant stress albeit briefly. The ones that irk me even more are the ones that are forgoing physical copies and buying digital copies instead. The acronym WTF immediately displays itself in large foreboding letters in my brain whenever I read such hogwash.

Watched these over the last couple days and was very satisfied with the PQ. All three movies played fine even with the light marks on the disc..

Were the marks from the packaging?

I would think so. Probably from when they slid them into the slots. The first disc had a place I thought for sure would have caused problems, but they all played without any issues. No skipping or freezing at all.

I got the first one. Watched for the first hour when the disc would freeze and refuse to skip forward from that point. I also noticed the loading menu is all black. I’ve received a replacement and it has the same issue. So I was curious if it might be my player. It is a 800M2.

So far it has to played other discs no issues except this one.
